Ancient warfare, gladiators, slave trading, torture chambers, public executions, etc. And now we look back and think how barbaric! how could anyone be like that?

When in reality we were that violent for far longer than we havent been. Honestly wasnt even that long ago in the grand scheme of things.

Do you feel completely removed from our barbaric nature and past? Or do you think people will always be like that?

I was just thinking about all of this in the shower and didnt really make any conclusions lol I just found it interesting.

You do realize that the gladiator fighting isn't as harsh as you think it is right? It had rules and most of the time as long as the opponent isn't a criminal there isn't much death. Hell it is basically like boxing is today.

I see the point youre trying to make, but come on man. Executions used to be done in public in front of everyone in town (who were often excited to be there, mainly women and children) and now youd be considered some sorta sicko to look up an execution online.

when you think about ancient wars, it gets weird cause they had soldiers that would be considered child soldiers today. in most countries in the medieval age, I think people could be soldiers by age 14. now picture a bunch of 14 year olds stabbing each other with swords.
