Had my first experience with this on the weekend. It was a lot or fun and scarily immersive but I also felt like the controls were still a ways off from being as accurate as you'd like.

Anyone here gone out and bought a set? Is it still gimmicky?

It's fucking amazing for non-first person games. Lucky's Tale is a platformer I played when I first played the Oculus. Remember the PS1 platformers that didn't handle the camera well? Imagine the total fucking opposite of that.

Which headset did you try? I have a Vive and tracking could not possibly be any better. Honestly I feel like it's still quite expensive and I would recommend to wait for gen 2. You need a powerful PC for it to work and GPUs are still quite expensive.The Vive controllers are not too good and tend to break easily.

VR is NOT a gimmick. The technology works really good, they only need to fix a few details. I predict that in less than 10 years ''No VR no buy'' will be common for all new FPS games.
