Fact. Not a bad song, just one of their worst singles.

Jesus Christ Pose and Outshined are clearly their superior singles.

I agree, I don't like it that much.

I wish we had a flair for "HOT TAKE".

Nah, it's definitely their most overplayed, and I agree it's not their best, but it's not their worst either. I realize this is coming from me with a quote from the song as my sig. >_>

I think that's just it, its like their lowest common denominator song IMO. so it has broad appeal in general I think but if you specifically like soundgarden its a bit lacking.

This is objectively true.

I wonder how well we would get along in real life. As much as we disagree about political stuff I see we agree about more of the cool shit.

I was considering adding Rusty Cage as another of their top tier singles, but I do think JCP and Outshined stand alone at the top.

Also a big fan of Ty Cobb song even though it kinda sucks.

Blow Up The Outside World, Outshined, Pretty Noose, The Day I tried to Live, and Burden on My Hand are all at the top for me as far as singles go.

To be honest most of my good friends over the years IRL have been conservative. So long as every now and then you're fine with being told you're an idiot (the return to me is fine too) we would probably get along fine. I grew up in a rural hick town, if a difference in political opinions stopped me from getting along with people I would have had a very lonely childhood.

I've been back and forth between liberal and conservative my whole life. Even now I'm taking a course in grad school on offshoring and it's really been impacting my views. Just had a pretty in depth discussion with my wife about some pretty delectable topics and I was on the more liberal side of the debate.

I might even have to go back and adjust my discussion question response before I turn it in lol

CE hates me because I lean right but IRL I'm open to debate this just isn't a good forum because it's completely polarized. No middle ground so everyone is on offense.

But back on topic SG is one of my favs have like all Cornell's music on vinyl seen him probably 8 times. Could talk about him for days. I seen him the night he died in Detroit at the Fox. I didn't go to work the next day I was crushed.

I'll agree Black Hole Sun is overrated, but I can't stand Jesus Christ Pose.

Blow up the Outside World > The Day I Tried to Live > Pretty Noose > Fell on Black Days > Rusty Cage top 5 singles.

I read Rush Limbaugh's The Way things Ought to Be and See, I Told You So in 6th grade and Ayn Rand in 7th grade. I have always been anti-authoritarian and pro-personal liberty but at 6th/7th grade I was pretty far right.

Around 8th grade I stopped doing the pledge of allegiance so then a bunch of kids thought I was a communist or something.

9th grade I got a pocket constitution in Mrs. Watson's US History class. That would be 20 years ago I got that and I still have it and read it.

In college my social views started to change because a lot of my personal liberty and anti-authoritarian believes seemed inconsistent. I.e, gay marriage. I was against until probably 2003/2004.

I'm still pro-property rights, 2nd amendment (though that doesn't mean types of firearms can't be restricted), for a smaller government and all that. Problem for me is modern Republicans are not small government, they are pro-corporate welfare and bloated government. So then they stand the wrong side of social issues for me without really addressing any conservative beliefs I hold. I thought Ron Paul was wacky but I would have voted for him as a Republican president since I thought he would actually try to reduce the size of the government. I'm independent and will probably only register as democrat because of closed primaries in Washington and because I'm afraid that democrats will go even crazier than Republicans next time they run the government.

Soundgarden I only caught once live. As Nude Dragons. Free "tune up" show before they started touring again. That was back in 2010 I think? I wasn't a big fan of Soundgarden until my 20s, I was a bigger AIC, Pearl Jam and Nirvana fan in my teens.

Fair enough, it was just a shot in the dark.

Though I wasn't necessarily meaning LCD like softest song. Hard to explain what I was really meaning, like it has all the elements of a prototypical Soundgarden song but the video always left more of an impression on me than the song. So maybe it feels more stylized to me? Who knows.
