Always save Boss souls. You can craft items or spells from them.

They usually suck though. :D

Nice! You have any tips? This is my first souls game.

My first tip is crucial to your entire experience. Dont look up anything. Exploration and discovery are important aspects to the series and you might ruin it for yourself if you look up where the best stuff is or what build is the best.

Second, there is a way to respec in the game, so experiment. Find out what you like best then stick with it. I like rapiers and spears, some people like big slow weapons, most people seem to like great swords. (Almost) Every weapon is viable when upgraded so just because you get a weapon early doesnt mean it wont be able to be used throughout the game.

Finally upgrade your weapons. It helps immensely. First time I played Dark Souls 1 I neglected upgrading stuff because I thought I would only use it for a little while. Big mistake when you are killing enemies in 12 hits.

Oh and git gud. Its more than just a meme, the Souls games are very fair and actually not extremely difficult. Its more about learning the systems and how to play the game. Once you get the hang of it, itll all get a lot easier.

OK! The only thing I think I'd look up is if I'm completely stuck, because if I literally start to feel sick when I'm stuck in a video game. It's weird.

Okay, I have an axe right now and it's pretty good tbh. Good to know I can just upgrade my stuff throughout the game.

You can reallocate your stats. So leveling up isnt a permanent commitment and you can completely change how your stats are distributed without starting a new character.

it means that there's an NPC that allows you to put the points that you've already used into other areas

like, if you leveled up strength, you can use those points to level up dexterity instead

edit: too late

Might as well enjoy the part of it where every corner is frigntening new territory, every boss is a harsh lesson in how not to make mistakes and every shadow is full of boogeymen waiting to ruin your fun.

From the next playthrough on, you'll probably be charging through the game like Sir Lancelot at a swamp castle wedding. That's fun too, but it's not the same.

I think I don't like challenging games but after buying this and super meat boy, I just might.

Hollowslayer Greatsword is the overall better weapon. Though if you ended up prefering spears, you'd be better off with the spear of course. Since this is your first Souls game you have a lot to learn through experimentation with regards to what kinds of weapons you like.

Arstor's Spear has poison on it, though it'll seldom come into play meaningfully, and also has an effect where while you have it out, enemies dying restores a little health for you. Hollowslayer is a greatsword that scales mostly off your Dexterity stat. It also does significant bonus damage to hollows, which encompasses a lot of enemies you'll fight throughout the game.

Magic is less viable early on in this than in others but pyromancies are useful. When you raw infuse a weapon it stops scaling but gets a damage boost, so it can make things much easier if you keep Dex and strength low and use a raw weapon in order to put the extra stats in vitality and endurance. The best shields are crest shields cause they give 100% physical reduction and don't way too much.
