Yep. The left's beliefs are all over the place. The right up until recent have been on an express train to extreme conservatism. I'm seeing more and more Republicans actually jumping off this Trump train and I am loving it. It sucks that it isn't the Puerto Rico neglect, the day-by-day lies, or half the policies that have been enacted since office that pulled them off, but I feel that this shows that some..... SOME Republicans still have a pulse.

Asylum seekers aren't illegal immigrants. We are prosecuting and tearing apart families that are seeking asylum. The issue is, people keep grouping asylum seekers in with these illegal immigrants. Even worse now, because this administration claims these kids are, or could be MS-13. Like wtf.

You know, it's kind of sad because most of my frustrations with Democrats stem from how half-assed they were with health care reform. They had the votes to go all the way with true single payer. I'm still salty.

But boy, this Trump insanity has really forced me to think maybe that wasn't as big of a deal lol

@Balrog0 has shared with me in the past info suggesting that a straight public option vote in reconciliation might not have gotten 51 votes in the senate, and that their shitbag compromise bill might have been to save face

Well to be fair I'm sure there's a large number of Democrats who are owned and bought by the large insurance networks. I'd like to believe overwise, but I'm a realist.

IIRC Chuck Schumer (or was it Harry Reid) has a daughter who is literally a CEO of a major insurance network.

Yeah the GOP has been screaming fuck the kids for my entire life, this is just finally the visual representation of it that broke the camels back

And even then, most of them are still trying to rationalize this.

I don't know about the actual GOP representatives, but I don't think most Conservative citizens have a "fuck the kids" mindset. I think they have a "take care of your own kids" mindset.

For example, I used to listen to the Adam Carolla show. He leans right on some of these kinds of issues and he would talk about how parents should provide their children's breakfast and lunch at school. That it provides a level of dignity that accepting free food from the school degrades. Even if it's just oatmeal with some brown sugar in it and an apple. He would often include stories of his own poor upbringing under his mother who spent all of his life living off the welfare of the state of California and how demoralizing it was.

Now, I don't know that he has the best handle on the situation of poor families and what they should or shouldn't accept from the state, but I never got a "fuck the kids" vibe.

I think many on the Right do see a difference between the ideal that parents, not the state, should be responsible for providing for and raising their children (and sometimes accepting the fact that those parents will do that job poorly) and gross and unnecessary cruel treatment of children.

Basically, I think they draw a line between accepting that personal responsibility with sometimes result in poor outcomes and deliberate cruelty.
