You dont want to watch a game where 16 players have been running for 3 hours.

Allow unlimited substitutions.
And let them hold the ball with their hands.
And make the goal to run to the end of the field while holding the ball

Football has various different types of overtime, but none of them are decided by field goals or a punt pass and kick game lmao

I prefer the NFL's version to the NCAA's, but the other team should get a chance to tie after a touchdown as well as a field goal.

I play roller hockey too and have at a very high level and that's 4v4. There's no blue line, no icing, far less passing. Everything's coast to coast for the most part.

Why would we want that for ice?

It's set up perfectly. If you do away with 5v5 you need to do away with offsides.

The players are too big nowadays. There aren't many scoring chances, especially with the giant goalies. And the scoring chances are what make hockey exciting and soccer boring.

Leave everything as it is but make it 4 vs. 4 instead of 5 vs. 5

This would obviously only be an issue after a pass attempt. The rule is that the receiver must have possession of the football, otherwise it is an incomplete pass and not a fumble. The final decision is left to the referees, but usually the correct call is obvious thanks to modern video technology.

At the very least they should change the group stage point structure so that ties award zero points. If ties are basically treated as a double loss, you'd see some really aggressive, exciting play in the last 15 minutes of tied games.

This is true. The football equivalent of soccer penalty kicks is kicking five field goals or whatever and whichever team has the most wins. Obviously that doesn't happen.

Field goals are a way to score during regular gameplay. So is scoring a goal in soccer. But when you have penalty versions that are set up it's not the same thing at all and would ruin (or does ruin in the case of soccer) the integrity pf the game.
