A few days this past week Ive been leaving a bit early from my job cause bus schedules work against me, and if I dont leave early I gotta wait 30 more minutes. I sense that at least one of my coworkers doesnt appreciate, but I havent outright asked. What do you guys think?

Its possible. Today there was like 4 people back where I was, and thats essentially all thats needed, but sometimes 5 people is helpful if its busy. We were in a bit of a lull near the end.

in most cases it doesn't matter. the only case where it's a dick move is if it's really hectic cause the place is understaffed or whatever. otherwise wow they left 5 min early instead of sitting there doing nothing useful. only power hungry managerial types would give a shit in those cases

Depends on the context.

Yours is kinda bullshit because it's your responsibility to get to work at the location of work. Where your home is and how to get there isn't work's problem so it's kinda unfair that you are getting time off unless you're not paid for ot.

But sometimes it can't be helped, like if your daughter is taken to hospital in an emergency and you need to be with her, that's completely understable.

"If I don't leave early I have to wait a little while for a bus" is BS tho

Well I dont get paid for the time Im not working. Even if its minimal, say an hour and 55 minutes would pay different. I agree that its not a great excuse, if I was distinctly told to stop I would, and most of the time I stay, especially when its busy. Though it sometimes leads me to work longer than I technically should be cause I dont wanna just leave when things are hectic, especially when my replacements have clocked in but arent ready to work.

You don't always get a warning when your behavior is viewed as problematic.

Sometimes employers just let you dig your own grave. Food for thought.

True, then again I hate this job (fastfood for summer only) and theyd probably be screwing over more people by giving them more work. These people are usually good about letting their grievances be known, but Ill keep it in mind.
