I was inspired to make this topic because I am playing Wind Waker HD and I remember how utterly terrified I was by the Wind Waker Redeads as a kid. >__> They're creepy as fuck appearance, the horrible scream, and the way they stare at you with soulless eyes slowly when you shoot them with an arrow across the room. Yeah, they KNOW you're there. They're just waiting for you to come to them...

I just went through the earth temple and laughed my ass off at how silly the redeads are. Childhood trauma conquered.

Nothing as a kid, but I'll admit black voids in games kinda creep me out. Earliest example being after you get the submarine star in Dire Dire Docks then the bay hatch opens and you have to get the remaining stars in that area with a big dark opening looming in the background. It even sucks you in if you get too close.

Any tornado/tornado-like things in games. Yes, even the cartoony WW waterspouts/twisters. They still freak me out, I don't know why.

Also, Luigi's Mansion scared 5 year old me, even though I also loved it.

I was around 20 years old when Wind Waker came out, and yes, those Redeads were fucking terrifying. Ocarina of Time's didn't really get me as bad as Wind Waker's dead. Probably 'cause of that jump scare-esqe face.

Fucking THIS! I wanted so badly to avoid them, and thought to myself, "Hey, maybe I can slowly kill them from afar with arrows." Then you shoot them and their head slowly turns to face you.

The sewers from Shadows of The Empire was a big one for me, though. Fuck that place.

water levels with like huge oceans and stuff you can go through

like jolly roger bay in sm64 (especially the parts near the eel), the ocean in windwaker (I got "stuck " in that game for awhile when I was smaller because I was too afraid to go in the deeper parts away from land lol <_<)

that's mostly for 3d games btw, ones in 2d games didn't really get me

They don't really give you many options to deal with them aside from dealing with the scream head on. Not many rooms with them have beams of light. They aren't very dangerous... just creepy lol.

Yeah, I'm guilty of this as well.

There was this Jimmy Neutron computer game demo where Jimmy was in a desert level. Early-ish 3D graphics, platformer/puzzle kind of game. There was a mechanic where Jimmy can climb onto a block by pressing a button. Thing was, you could do that on a wall at the side of the level for some reason, and since there was no place for you to stand, you basically did the animation and clipped through the pixelly wall. This resulted in you falling endlessly into a blue void until you found another Jimmy Neutron model t-posing next to Goddard. I would probably laugh my ass off at this now but as a kid who didn't understand how videogames worked, this was really eerie and disturbing. Once inside there was nothing to do but close the game out.

But that's not the only scary Jimmy game. There was another which was like closer to first person perspective, and there were enemies as the jelly alien people from the movie. I don't remember if you can fight them but basically if they saw you theyd just beeline up to you and that was pants shittingly terrifying.
