Truth be told, I knew very little about the game before I purchased it.

For one, I didn't it expect it to be so much like Dark Souls.

That being said, the game's enjoyable and I like their twist on Souls as well. It sort of rounds down some of the edges and even though I'm not even that far, the aesthetic is much more appealing. Unlike DS3 which was largely grey and beige.

The Ki pulse thing is interesting too.

Just don't put so much emphasis on the souls aspect and enjoy it for what it is. It gets ragged on so much for not being an exact souls copy that it's pretty stupid imo. It's it's own game.

But yeah the length of the game might be taxing especially if you're not a big fan of Diablo. It's built to be replayed multiple times to get to higher difficulties to get better gear and access to different builds. Story isn't super great but it's nice seeing all the Japanese history and lore.

the game has its issues but souls fanboys bash it far more than it deserves because the game doesn't have the same bad game design issues souls has.

Tbf, I was kind of excited to see how they redid Souls according to their vision. The ki pulse thing is interesting so far and seems absolutely crucial to mastering the game.

I gotta go back to Nioh one of these days. I hit a roadblock on a boss and just kind of stopped.

Not only is Nioh a long game it is designed to be played long after you beat the game. Entire concepts get added in higher NG+'s, on top of new enemy placements. And it has an actual fleshed out endgame.

Nioh can last a very long time if you don't mind the repetition. There's a lot of depth to the combat and it can be fun to explore the different styles and weapons, which can do a lot to mitigate the repetition. And if you like coop, especially helping people as a coop summon, Nioh is the best Souls style game for that.

Still, it definitely will get repetitive. How much you truly like the core game will be tested as environments, enemies and battle themes see a lot of reuse. If you like the core game a lot, it can last a very, very long time.

She is a very common wall for new players. Nioh overall starts off really rough and doesn't really ease up until you complete a mission called Ocean Roars Again, which represents the sort of last of the early rough missions.

And the ability to use different weapons and gain new moves for those weapons really keeps it fresh. You get bored of a weapon or style? Try a new combo! Really differentiates itself from Souls where it's mainly positioning and the same slashes/swings.
