I heard that most of the bad acting was intentionally done by the cast because the writing was shit and they knew it. It was mostly the inconsistency in the characters.

Mostly the two parters were what carried that show. Year of hell was one of my favorites

A lot of Neelix episodes are weirdly among the best parts of Voyager. It probably helps that he's one of the only characters allowed to have any sort of discernible personality. I found it sort of depressing to watch after a while, because I just knew it wasn't going to get better.

Neelix is absolutely the show's Jar-Jar, but the writers at least realized that and greatly tone down the focus on him after a while. They don't get rid of him entirely though.

And get ready for so much wasted potential. Voyager throws away a lot of great plot points just to maintain the status quo.

As a kid I really liked the show just because I wanted to see if they would actually finally get home (spoilers: they do), but having watched the other Star Trek shows now, Voyager probably hasn't aged well for me.

Yeah, I watched through 2 or 3 seasons of it on Netflix earlier this year, and it never managed to find any sort of stride. It just felt half-baked in a lot of ways.

Just reaffirms how solid TNG is as I watch through it for the first time with any regularity.

Naivety isn't being socially awkward, it's more akin to an ignorant sort of innocence. Been a long time since I've watched TNG, so I can't think of any examples. I want to say Data is once completely baffled by Riker bluffing in poker; that'd be naivety.

Seven isn't really someone you take advantage of. She's ignorant about certain things, but she's not "innocent" in that ignorance. If you get me. I also wouldn't call her socially awkward so much as just plain unsociable. Data is socially awkward because he tries really hard but doesn't manage it. Seven just doesn't bother trying to be social.
