The episode was good last night but the overall story has become straight shit. I hate how the twist from last season has become the driving plot. It's not about what is happening just when is it happening basically. Shogun world was completely pointless other than giving Maeve some more screen time. Her "new voice" shit ended up being pointless too during that last battle.

The only part that stayed interesting was Bernard's story.

The first season was great tv imo and the twist hit me out of nowhere. I know it was a theory pretty early on but it was a good twist. To make it what the series rides on though was a dumb mistake.

Are you talking about William being MiB, Dolores being Wyatt, or Bernard being a host?

Ah, that was interesting. They set up a lot of major reveals that wouldn't be reveals if the story were told chronologically. The second season did the same thing, but over a smaller time. I suspect that with the after credits scene in the second season finale being a huge time leap in to the future, they'll attempt a similar structure with the third season.

Season 2 would have been more enjoyable as a binge watch, imo. Season 1 gave us a steady drip of interesting revelations, while Season 2 saved 90% for the final episode. Also, they went a little too far with the chronological editing salad, for my taste. I enjoyed engaging with Season 1, but with Season 2 it felt like homework, having to deconstruct their editing bay every week.

These criticisms, taken together, are symptoms of a larger trend in TV and film today: storytellers are so bent on surprising the audience and guarding their twists that they'll sacrifice anything to do it.

I think the post credits scene is going to be the end. This story ends with William and his daughter in an infinite fidelity loop. That might be too far out though

She froze every murder-host there, giving her daughter time to enter Eden. That's not really pointless.

I liked season 2. it wasn't as good as season 1, but it's still better than 90% of other television
still, it's definitely a show that benefits from binge-watching

It flirted with juggling too much. The episode about James Delos and the one about Akeecheta were the best episodes because they were single narrative character driven stories.
