Trailers

it would be a bigger impact if it was a surprise and they just suddenly showed up and made the audience gasp

the movie looked cool even before hulk appeared. I don't think hulk is what made the movie a success.

The Incredible Hulk wasn't able to sell his own movie, but he was able to sell Ragnarok. Yeah, that makes sense.

I get what you're saying but that applies to everything, better to not even have trailers then everything will make the audience gasp.

Thor fighting Hulk specifically helped sell Ragnarok. Like how Iron Man fighting Hulk helped sell Avengers 2

Yeah you're right, people were definitely hyped off of knowing that it was a sequel to the critically received Thor 2 alone

I agree with TC. Hulk showing up would have been a great reveal.

God forbid opening weekend isn't as strong but word of mouth promotes more later views . . .

While cool, they're trying to sell the movie. So if a big character is in the movie they're going to market them.

People like TC would have ruined it even if they didn't put it in the trailer.

Spiderman I can agree with. That would've been a SWEET reveal.

Hulk I disagree. After Thor 1 and 2 were so brutal, his solo movies were in obvious need of support, so considering Hulk's position of being "lost" after Ultron, it made sense to pair them up.

I disagree. And hyping up the gladiator scene without the reveal would have been great. Imagine the speculation. "Beta Ray bill" "No, it's gonna be Hulk"

The Immigrant song + Hela + 80's vibe + space gladiator trope = me sold.

i don't really follow the MCU, but was Hulk's presence on that planet ever explained? i saw the movie a couple of weeks ago and it sorta bothered me that he was just conveniently there.

Not specifically in detail or anything. He was flying away at the end of Ultron, and somehow got sucked into a wormhole that left him on the planet. That was about it.

The whole 80's thing with the Blade Runner-esque soundtrack was so good.
