But also seem to defend the right a lot. Mostly due to hypocrisy. It happens on both sides, but i suppose I'm more critical of my own team.

Who else feel like this

You side with liberals and feminists, alright, what do you say when somebody tells you that they think women should be allowed to carry firearms for self defense, and use deadly force to stop rapists?

I'm kinda the same. I don't defend the left because I don't need to...there are way more of them on the internet. I defend the right some because the "intellectual" left refuses to see things from their point of view. And people on the left tend to be more uncompromising and hostile towards those they disagree with, even lashing out at "centrists." I generally expect more out of the left than the right.

It's called not letting your political affiliations determine all your thinking for you.

Some issues are not black and white. Some are shades of gray and the political party you subscribe to might only focus on certain issues, while basically ignoring others that you think are important.

Don't be afraid to jump around and look at other perspectives when educating yourself and forming your individual opinion. It makes no sense to limit yourself to only one. It's a big busy world.

I'm a feminist, but I've also spoken up for men's issues as well.
I'm fairly liberal on political topics, but I still respect that some conservative values are important to people for valid reasons.
I'm supportive of gay marriage, but I'm also a fan of seeing other people...including traditional "cis couples"...have successful matrimony too.
I voted Hillary Clinton for the 2016 US election, but I can still understand that not everyone who voted for Trump are the same or did so for identical reasons.

People have different opinions and perspectives. I'm fine with that and can still get along with someone who's political opinions are not the same. You're not going to hear or see even most of what's really going on in the world if you only open yourself to exchanging ideas with people "on your side". Part of what makes a successful diplomat is being brave enough to step out of an echo chamber to face differing opinions and not being afraid to entertain the possibility that one could change yours.

The thing about people who sit in political echo chambers and shut out any differing train of thought is that they never realize when the party they're subscribing to might have a negative ugly side too. They can't; they're stuck inside the shelter. They can't see the clearer picture until they step outside of it and look. And when they don't, they become vehemently blindsided by any criticism towards that party, even in instances when it's valid. That's what happens when a group begins to prioritize self affirmation more than self reflection...

I really don't care much for either side, but when one is outright dangerous and the other is just kinda stupid, not to mention that one makes itself a much easier target, it's to be expected that one's going to be the butt of the joke far more often than the other.
