I love TLA. Probably my fav cartoon, but honestly Korra Season 3 trumps all of it.

It's god damn fucking amazing is what it is. The story, the villain (oh god the villain), hnnnng

I'm passionate about few things.

Korra S3 and its villain are two of those things

In Korra they use fire bending as a form of free energy to power the city.

That actually was really weird to me.
Lightning turned from something only the best of the best firebenders could use to something simple power plant workers used.

They probably got trained on how to do it and it became easier for people to master as time passed.

Like how no one but Toph even thought metal bending was possible, but then in Korra lots of people can do it.

It's also an undertone throughout LoK that the Greatest Generation has passed: the Tophs, Azulas, and King Bumis are fading from the world. Bending is becoming more commonplace, but also more dilluted / mundane. At least that was my take on it.

If they ever do an Earthbender Avatar series, I'd like to see the crossbreeding resulting from Republic City's existence lead to mixed-race benders who could potentially inherit both their parents' bending arts (thus furthering the new Avatar's struggles with becoming obsolete).

I've watched it through a million times. Stellar show the whole way.

Korra is great, but imo not the whole way through. I love Season 1, Season 2 is pretty meh, season 3 is fucking INCREDIBLE, and season 4 is good too. Not a huge fan of how it ended tho tbh.

Enjoy your journey TC. I actually just started watching it with my GF who has never seen it the whole way through. We're on episode 7 lol

Well, obviously that's not how it works now. But the creators are more than within their power to let things evolve in a potential 3rd series. Cross-nation breeding was virtually nonexistent before the end of the 100 Year War and is still a relatively new occurance in LoK. A theme that's touched on lightly in TLA and heavily in LoK is how a spiritual savior like the Avatar struggles to maintain relevance in a developing world. The sudden existence of cross-element benders would further this theme by making the Avatar's powers far less unique.

There is nothing wrong with Korra. Season 3 is better than any of the Books in TLA, IMO

Turned solid earth into lava. That was Zaheer's earth bending buddy's whole shtick.

Except the entire premise of the show is that only the avatar can bend more than one element.

Lavabending is an extension of earthbending powers. No firebending talent is needed for it.

That's an interesting viewpoint. It always irked me how in LoK, everything that was once unique and distinctive and remarkable is now commonplace -- even Airbenders and sky bison, which at one point their very existence was something of wonder and amazement. It takes away something special and sacred from the original series, IMO.

In a potential next series, instead of moving forward from Korra, I'd like if they that went back and focused on the previous earthbending Avatar, Kyoshi. Her life seemed pretty amazing and she was a kickass avatar, and it would hearken back to the glory days of series and all the lore TLA established before it was tarnished by LoK.

The Airbenders are the only thing. Everything else is a natural result if a 100 year war ending.

Yep.

Also, not sure if you care or not but "spoiler" for the voice actor for a character you hear the voice of later on:
Mark Hammil plays the Fire Lord.
