That actually was really weird to me. Lightning turned from something only the best of the best firebenders could use to something simple power plant workers used. They probably got trained on how to do it and it became easier for people to master as time passed. Like how no one but Toph even thought metal bending was possible, but then in Korra lots of people can do it. It's also an undertone throughout LoK that the Greatest Generation has passed: the Tophs, Azulas, and King Bumis are fading from the world. Bending is becoming more commonplace, but also more dilluted / mundane. At least that was my take on it. If they ever do an Earthbender Avatar series, I'd like to see the crossbreeding resulting from Republic City's existence lead to mixed-race benders who could potentially inherit both their parents' bending arts (thus furthering the new Avatar's struggles with becoming obsolete). --- Simple questions deserve long-winded answers that no one will bother to read. <cite>masterpug53 posted [p:904382936] in i've start... I love Season 1, Season 2 is pretty meh, season 3 is fucking INCREDIBLE, and season 4 is good too. Not a huge fan of how it ended tho tbh. Enjoy your journey TC. I actually just started watching it with my GF who has never seen it the whole way through. It always irked me how in LoK, everything that was once unique and distinctive and remarkable is now commonplace -- even Airbenders and sky bison, which at one point their very existence was something of wonder and amazement. It takes away something special and sacred from the original series, IMO. In a potential next series, instead of moving forward from Korra, I'd like if they that went back and focused on the previous earthbending Avatar, Kyoshi.
