Explain to them how it is best that they become a staple self sustaining single adult before deciding what kind of sexual and/or romantic lifestyle they choose.

This is a very VERY difficult issue, because transitioning at the earliest it's physically possible has the best long term outcomes, but that usually means doing it at a time when the magnitude of the decision can't be weighed by the person making it.

My bottom line is, if I'm certain my male child is serious, and if I genuinely think he will later in life transition anyway, I'll go ahead and make sure it happens sooner rather than later because I don't want to be the reason everyone can tell "they're" trans.

I don't care about the absolute "it is or it's not a male/female". The real question to me is who's going to accept them and how miserable they're going to be, then what role I play in it.

If I know my kid that's mentally incapable of even keeping a secret I should have a pretty good understanding of how long he's been putting on dresses or wishing he was a girl

Maybe he just picked up a computer and thought transgenders were cool and he wanted to be a girl out of nowhere because that's the fad going on

Either way it's good to know what kind of support I'm giving my kid regardless is going to be wrong. It's probably going to be the former though, because I would never raise a kid to give a shit about fads. I Definitely wouldn't screw my kid over and moronically wait until he was 18 to do estrogen, at which point he'll just be sad and pathetic as a shell of a human being that doesn't fit anywhere.

I think this is probably the best answer. If they still feel the same way after a year or two, then I don't think I'd stop them. It's their body, and as long as they have a firm understanding about what they're doing, I wouldn't want to deny them from finding happiness whatever form that might be.

Wait until they are older to consider surgery options but for the time being support them and do stuff like hormones which arent permanent and can be reversed.
