You have mastered the art, completely, from selecting ingredints to choosing the toppings, how to sear them, etc etc. You are a bona fide burger genius. You put in a job application. You make it to the interview. "I see you have experience with lettuce and tomato." Well yeah, you do. Of course you do. It's important to understand lettuce and tomato to make a good burger. "See what we're really looking for is someone who can provide us with good lettuce and tomato." Um, ok. You can do that for a while until you earn some professional experience. It's kind of the simplest thing in the world but you know, you can do it. You accept the job. After a few years, you approach the boss. "Hey don't we sell burgers here?" "Yep." "'Cuz you know, I'm a burger genius and all." "We buy them." "We buy them?" "Yes, we buy them and then we sell them to the customers." "Have we ever thought about making them ourselves?" "No." So maybe it's time to start applying elsewhere. Now that you have experience, you're getting bites right and left. "Hey this guy has lettuce and tomato experience!" "We're looking for someone who really understands lettuce and tomato." "Someone with a deep understanding of lettuce and tomato would certainly be an asset to our team." You look up the company who your company buys burgers from. "Nope we're looking for people with burger experience, not lettuce and tomato experience."
