Do the police know I'm the one they're looking for or are the Yakuza the only people who are aware that I "murdered" someone?

Currently at chapter 2 dealing with these real estate douches btw. Pretty cool game so far.

Pretty sure Kiryu is never identified to the police.

But then, it's never really explained.

Kiryu has had problems in other games that would lead any normal person to trouble with the police, but most times his pal on the force, Makoto Date, helps him out and steers investigations away from him. That character doesn't exist in Yakuza 0 so the fact that Kiryu has such freedom to wander about is a suspension of disbelief.

This is all my making assumptions here, but the likelihood is that in 1988 Kamurocho the yakuza have so much public power and influence that if something happens there, and if it has to do with the yakuza, it's assumed that they'll take care of their own rather than needing the po-po to step in.

iirc, only the yakuza know that Kiryu is the one who "killed" the guy in the empty lot. I think the police have no clue who did it yet. At least if I'm remembering right

police don't really get involved with yakuza its the culture there

I just don't understand how the Yakuza threatened to send him to prison when there wasn't any connection between him and the dead guy, out in public at least. Seems like just another day and now they're gonna have to sack up a little more yen for the empty lot or whatever. Maybe I'm missing something.

Kiryu is a nobody so they'd probably rather make him turn himself in than risk the police coming down on the whole family. Or something like that.

yeah but i forget when. chapter 3 maybe? the game will make it very clear when you have the option to start doing those things.

Cool. Also is Rush the best fighting stance or am I just bad with the others? I don't like the beast one (way too slow and items are usually pretty out of the way from where a fight starts) and the regular stance is just okay.

Go with whichever one suits you best. I had a tough time with Rush, but a Youtuber I watch who plays a lot of character action games swears by Rush.

Which fighting stance did you use? I want to play with all of them eventually and mix things up if that's a reasonable way to play.

I honestly can't remember which one I liked the most at the start. When you get a large amount of abilities unlocked, the workability of all the styles changes slightly.

I think ended up sticking with Brawler the most by the end of it.

Yeah I'm gonna stick with Rush for the time being. I'm more likely to dodge than block in this game it seems.

Also eye patch dude is a total bad ass. I just got to chapter 3.
