Conservative groups are seizing on the news on the retirement of Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy as an opportunity to finally overturn landmark social cases such as Roe v Wade and Gay Marriage!!

Bob Vander Plaats, the president and CEO of the right-wing group The Family Leader said that his departure finally gives them a chance to take control of America as Trump PROMISED them that he will pay them back the favour of putting him in the white house and to bring America back to its "family roots"

He said "We have a chance to take down Roe v Wade. This is a historic moment in the pro-life community today."

He is a conservative kingmaker in Iowa who said now is the time to finally end gay marriage and said "I think God's design is for marriage and family. We will revert back to that. Marriage needs to be debated again. President Trump has committed to us on the campaign that he would return the favour for putting him in the white house and we certainly see this opportunity to do that"

The retirement will certainly push the bench to the far right as Trump will likely replace him with someone already published in a list of legal minds as he Republicans want to vote on this asap before the midterm elections.

CNN Legal Analyst Jeffrey Toobin also predicted that 20 states will pass laws BANNINGabortions outright because they know they are going to be the 5 votes to overturn Roe v Wade where abortion will be illegal in a significant part of the United States

Other anti-abortion activists echoed that as Susan B. Anthony said "This marks a pivotal moment for the fight to ensure every unborn child is welcomed and protected under the law"

Trump vowed to nominate pro-life justices and to overturn abortion during his tenure as he will make a 2 for 1 kill on progressive laws passed.

Kennedy, though a conservative himself was more of a moderate who was the swing vote on abortion and gay rights though voted for Trump's muslim ban

The Trump presidency has already spurred a wave of abortion laws with 19 states adopting 63 restrictions in 2017, the highest since 2014 as anti-abortion groups and Republican State governments hope to challenge Roe v Wade

The Senate has the sole authority to approve the nomination with a 51 seat majority

I've never really cared either way about gay marriage but I've never heard a valid argument against it that didn't involve what some book that gets rewritten/edited/revised constantly says about it. And the "sanctity of marriage" line always make me laugh as us straight folk float around the 50% divorce rate.

As for abortion, personally, I'm against it. But I'm also a strong supporter of government staying the fuck out of our personal lives. So I'd prefer that Roe v. Wade stays put.
