In terms of actual food places, this year I've spent: https://s15.postimg.cc/iclk6ni2z/Capture.jpg

And another $500-600 for what I paid for in cash.

Is that a lot?

40-50.

this really vary's. sometimes i like to head to the pizza place once in a month but they charge slightly more than my average meal at taco bell (it's good pizza though). it's a local chain "fultano's". i don't want to say the city due to my fear of being paranoid about people trying to get me.

Just recently picked up an $800 dinner tab at a steakhouse in Atlantic City to thank my friends for coming out to my bachelor party. So yeah, I spend a lot on food. But I also like to eat good so whatever.

I kinda guessed the intention was groceries, and that's what I cited with my figure. With restaurants and snacks it's about $260.

We used to live off of $160 and man was that tight.

Anyway, we get most of our food at Aldi, where a loaf of bread is a dollar, chicken sells for $1-$3 per pound and produce is half to a third of what it would be elsewhere. Then we get whatever has both a sale and a coupon at Publix. You know, ice cream, frozen food, snack crackers, etc. Mrs. DevsBro is great at that and it's rare for her to save less than 50%.

She's been working on getting into Dollar General too. Kinda requires a different strategy, which is what she's in the process of figuring out.

Gordon Ramsay said, on MasterChef, that the average amount spent on lunch is around $10/day. To me, thats astronomical, and the shocking fact is that if $10 is the average price, there are people spending much more per day.

First thing first:
Lunch is a societal suggestion. Its not necessary unless your job requires you to burn energy, nonstop. If you work at a computer desk, you shouldnt be eating lunch. People should feed their body when it says it needs food.

i have a deskjob and I couldn't function if I didn't have a meal (and various snacks) between breakfast and dinner. $10 isn't bad for a meal but that's also assuming the person didn't "brown bag it" and is going out to get food.

I feed a family of five on ~$75 a week. That's possible because I grow about half of what we eat, and trade some of my produce for beef/chicken/eggs with a nearby farmer. I also bake my own bread (12 cents/loaf, vs. $1.99 for store bought), cook at home almost exclusively, cut coupons, and hit the sales hard.

Once the baby is weaned from formula (lactose intolerance), that number will drop to ~$50.

We eat healthy 4 star quality meals nearly every night, because my wife and I both cook very well and have high standards. We only eat at restaurants rarely, because in most cases (in our area) we can do it better and cheaper.

on dollar general, there's some things that are hit and miss. gotta know which things are good or bad.
name brand stuff is safe.

my actual food budget is 170$ though i kick in some additional coin at the end of the month if i want special items such as lasagna, good burgers or chicken.

i got confused on the fast food budget.

lol wtf

I spend more than half of that at the grocery store for myself. Do you just not eat?

TCs post just had eating out, not groceries.

So going off of that, yeah around 200 bucks at most per month between me and my gf.

My budget has $75 for groceries and $75 for eating out per week. It varies a lot though. Like if I decide to treat my gf somewhere fancy that's $80 right there.

Like $40/week at most. Get free dinners on Monday, Thursday and Friday. Get free lunch and dinner on Saturday and Sunday. All paid for by my work. I typically don't eat breakfast and China is pretty cheap when it comes to food.
