Tuesday evening I had a fever of 99.8F and felt very tired.

Wednesday morning, I had a fever of 100.1F and sore throat. I skipped work and stayed home all day. By Wednesday evening, I felt much better.

Thursday morning, I did not have any fever, but had a light sore throat. I went to work. As the day progressed, I got more tired and my throat hurt more and more. Thursday evening, my throat hurt so much that I couldn't eat. I did not have a fever.

This morning, I did not have a fever, but my throat hurts even more. I feel like my throat is swollen; it's slightly harder to breathe, and I cannot even swallow my saliva (I start gagging). Needless to say, I skipped work.

Strange thing is, I have no cough and aside from my throat and feeling abnormally tired, my body feels just fine. So not sure wtf this is.

I'm at MedExpress. Anyone on CE take a guess what this is?

I'm not really too knowledgeable about these sorts of illnesses, but maaaybe strep, given that you don't have a cough?

You should probably go to an urgent care and get a mucus test to rule out strep, and a chest x-ray to see if it's pneumonia.

I had what felt like a really bad cold for about a week, then one night I woke up feeling super cold and convulsing. Went to the ER and they confirmed it was pneumonia. It can fucking kill you so get it checked out sooner rather than later

Look in your throat, are there white spots? Even if not, it sounds like strep

Got checked in with the nurse. My temperature is 99.4F, so I do have a fever. My blood pressure is elevated, at 147/89, and my resting heart rate is also elevated at 87 bpm.

They swabbed my throat. Now I'm waiting for the doctor.

I do have tonsils! I was supposed to get rid of them when I was in high school, but a second opinion from another doctor recommended against it unless it shows regular problems.

Doctor came in and told me strep test showed positive. She recommends 10 days of antibiotic treatment.

Lack of cough is classic Center criteria for step throat

that's pretty standard. wonder where you caught the infection
myself i never figured out the cause (all i know is i was in high school at the time).
they ended up giving me one of those Z packs with the 10 days of treatment.

though one word of note: make sure to take all 10 of the medication. you don't want it coming back even if you feel better.

Yea that's what the doc said. Make sure you finish everything.

I wonder how any of these infections start... Like I caught it from someone, but where did that person catch it from? And on and on...

it was just her time to leave this earth and head back home.

Strep spreads through aerosol droplets, so since you waited so long to get it looked at you probably spread it a bit yourself. It's extremely contagious.

i went to the doctor myself right around the time TC did. when i started having that fever and felt like shit.
it was actually my dad who helped motivate me to go there even if it wasn't a good idea by my thinking.
