Like, we've known for decades it has very little physiological drawbacks, and some medical benefits when used by specific people, and yet it's still illegal. It's just comical that a greedy paper magnate and a bunch of racists over 80 years ago convinced people marijuana was evil to keep a monopoly on their business and to discriminate against Mexican people, and somehow it's still illegal and vilified.

But liquor is cool and so are cigarettes.

I have no interest in ever using weed but yeah, I think the time for legalization has come. It's already legal in my state though.

I do like that states have begun to legalize it though. Means maybe, in the next 50 or so years, we can leave reefer madness behind completely.

Any time you ban something, it's just going to create a black market...we got cigarette smoking on the decline not through a complete outlaw, but aggressively promoting how shitty it is, taxing the shit out of it, and heavily restricting its advertisement outreach.

But we can't do the same with drugs and have to keep throwing users in jail because...reasons.

And it's even crazier that Canada will likely become an international pariah and kicked out of the UN an the G7 for legalizing it

Its kind of insane that marijuana is a Schedule I drug which means they have no currently accepted medical use in the United States, a lack of accepted safety for use under medical supervision, and a high potential for abuse.

But then its like......not even worth talking with someone who believes it should illegal.

From my understanding, Trump is for medical marijuana but not pushing it so he doesn't piss off the Evangelicals, right? Maybe he'd go for it if he won 2020.

I really don't see why the government doesn't legalize it and use it as a tax revenuerevenue. Its not like the country doesn't need the money.
