Prominent Democratic pollster Mark Penn said on Thursday that a vast majority of Americans dont really support so-called sanctuary cities that shield immigrants in the country illegally from deportation.

Penn, who served as chief strategist for Hillary Clinton's 2008 presidential campaign, revealed that 84 percent of Americans favor turning undocumented immigrants over to federal agents.

I asked them, Do you think notifying ICE [Immigration and Customs Enforcement] would in fact increase crime because it would inhibit people from reporting crimes or does it decrease crimes because it takes criminals off the street, and they overwhelming said decrease, Penn told Hill.TV's Rising.

Penn said the response was strikingly out of sync with what the public might think about sanctuary cities. The broad term refers to cities that dont fully cooperate with federal authorities when it comes to turning over people in the country illegally to immigration enforcement.

When someones arrested, they expect someone will notify federal immigration authorities just as they would expect someone who violates state tax law will find out that they notified the IRS, the pollster said.

If Democrats are expecting ICE hysteria to bring them into power in November then they're gonna get a rude awakening, it seems

Prior to about a hundred years ago there was no welfare state or benefits granted to citizens of the US. If you came here, you either worked or you starved.

Anyone else think it's weird how the left is accusing the right of supporting these immigration laws because of some hatred against brown people? Does the left not realize that there are millions of illegal immigrants who are not brown?

Personally, I know many in Chicago who are from Europe. And there's undoubtedly many from China, etc, who are here illegally.

Yet you never seem to see the left rally for them when they talk about open borders, reforming immigration laws, etc.

Right but it's used as an excuse for why socialists failed so many times, when in reality we can see from the evidence that socialist regimes were on the verge of collapse no matter what. Example: averagejoel and gunplagirl have blamed American imperialism for what happened in Iran in the 50s.

The CIA did participate in the coup that overthrew Mosaddegh, but it was with the blessing of the Shah because Iran was already collapsing after its nationalization of oil and more. The CIA did not destabilize Iran, socialism did. But of course neither averagejoel nor gunplagirl care about that kind of nuance.
