Always felt this way about video games. I feel if i turned video games into a job then i wouldnt enjoy them anymore.

I like playing what i want, when i want. If im forced to play it i think it could ruin the hobby.

Things are rarely absolutes, but as a generalization it seems more likely than not.

Well if I could make a million a year playing video games, I suppose I would just tough it out.

Absolutely. That's why I want people who claim "if you love what you do, you'll never work a day in your life" to shut the fuck up. That only works if you make so much money doing it that you can go on hiatus for extended periods of time.

well, you'd only be pro at one specific game so i don't think other games would really be ruined for you. you might end up hating whatever game you go pro at, though.

the deal with a hobby is that you can stop it and start it whenever you want. if you're feeling some burnout, you can just take a break for a week or two, or however long you need to. if it's a job, i think it'd be harder to deal with the burnout and in some cases you're not given as much freedom over what you do.

i wouldn't say it'd ruin a hobby, but to me, it'd make it less fun (unless you have total creative control over it)

I mean it's more reasonable to interpret that as at least striking a balance between a career option that is more fulfilling to you than just finding something that makes more money.

Someone doing a job that's still a job, but at least interests them on some level for 50k vs doing a job they hate for 60k.

Just depends how you handle it, I guess. It's a danger, but if you do it right it's a fulfilling dream job.

Turning video gaming into a job means you play video games for work.

In reality, if youre approaching this from a "make my hobby a job" then your hobby should be developing games.

Another way. My hobby is flying planes (on the rare chance I get to). Becoming a pilot means I get to get paid for flying planes.

I don't know, but you're obviously touched in the head.
