Kristin Mink was having lunch with her toddler in Washington, D.C., when she noticed who was sitting three tables over: EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt.

In a video posted to her Facebook account, Mink walks up to Pruitt and an unidentified companion and confronts him over his record of environmental deregulation and open corruption. According to Minks video, the confrontation occurred at Teaism in downtown Washington on Monday.

Hi, I just wanted to urge you to resign because of what youre doing to the environment and our country, Mink says. This is my son. He loves animals. He loves clean air. He loves clean water. Meanwhile, youre slashing strong fuel standards for cars and trucks, for the benefit of big corporations.

Pruitts smile turns to a frown as Mink speaks, and he glances nervously to the man sitting across from him.

Youve been paying about 50 bucks a night to stay in a D.C. condo thats connected to an energy lobbying firm, while approving their dirty sands pipeline, Mink continues, reading from notes. We deserve to have somebody at the EPA who actually does protect our environment, somebody who believes in climate change and takes it seriously, for the benefit of all of us, including our children.

Mink concluded: So, I would urge you to resign before your scandals push you out.

The video does not show Pruitt getting up and leaving the restaurant, but according to Mink, Pruitt and his two security guards left the restaurant before she returned to her seat.

Staff at Teaism could not immediately confirm whether Pruitt visited the restaurant on Monday, but said he had been seen there a few weeks ago.

This story is just the latest in an ongoing series of concerned citizens confronting Trump administration officials while dining out in public.

Mink responded to a text message from Splinter with this statement:

As soon as my husband pointed out Pruitt sitting there, I knew instantly that I had to say something to him, it was just a question of what. His actions are the source of so much of my despair for my childs future and frankly the future of humanity. Hes literally sacrificing our air and water, the well-being of coastal communities, all kinds of unique natural resources, for short-term personal gains. Buying stupid crap like a soundproof phone booth for his office and first-class plane tickets with taxpayer dollars, living in housing discounted for him by an energy group while he does favors for their clients. I honestly dont know how he sleeps at night.

It feels very personal. Thats why I decided to introduce him to my son. Like, you are wrecking the earth THIS KID, every kid, will inherit.

That's what I figured. Most people need to be personable to do the networking to get them into these positions in the first place.

that seems unlikely

considering what's said about him is things he's done

doesnt mean he's someone you can't have over for dinner

it does mean he's chairing an organization he sued multiple times and repeatedly stated should not exist, and running it in such a fashion as to assist in future lawsuits put forward by him when he is no longer running it

i can recognize he is almost certainly a servant of someone else who pays him to do such things

but that doesn't mean he isn't responsible for his actions

The Trump administration appointees described an administrator who sought a salary that topped $200,000 for his wife and accepted help from a subordinate in the job search, requested aid from senior EPA officials in a dispute with a Washington landlord and disregarded concerns about his first-class travel.

The interviews conducted by staffers for the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee late last week shed new light on the EPA administrators willingness to leverage his position for his personal benefit and to ignore warnings even from allies about potential ethical issues, according to three individuals familiar with the sessions, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the ongoing investigation.

The EPAs former associate administrator for the Office of Policy, Samantha Dravis, spoke to Republican and Democratic aides for several hours on Thursday, followed by Pruitts chief of staff, Ryan Jackson, on Friday.

Both aides described instances in which their boss pressed to travel first-class or via private jet, while Dravis acknowleged that Pruitt asked his subordinates to do non-official work for him, multiple individuals said.

According to an individual with knowledge of the matter, Dravis told congressional staffers that Pruitt initially asked her to contact the Republican Attorneys General Association a group Pruitt had once led and Dravis had worked for before coming to EPA as part of the job search for his wife. Dravis said she declined to make that call to avoid any potential conflicts of interest or possible violations of the Hatch Act, which limits federal officials political activities.

"Nothing matters" has been a common topic these days but you can't give in. It won't happen today or tomorrow, but as long as the pressure keeps building then things will change. That's what I believe anyway.
