Like yeah, it is fun to argue about politics and economic policies, but the people trump is floating for supreme court want to hurt me on a personal level. Like, this isn't a debate over a 10% change in my taxes, this is a debate about whether I can go to a restaurant with my spouse and not have to worry about being kicked out. It is a debate about whether or not my landlord can immediately put me on the streets if he finds out I am gay. It is a debate about whether or not my spouse can visit me in the hospital if I get sick. These are very real issues that will heavily impact the quality of my life.

It is extremely disturbing and disheartening to me to see people who genuinely want to see me suffer are being floated for lifetime appointments to the supreme court. It is fundamentally unethical--and I think the majority of the country would agree. It makes me feel sick.

It's been that way for trans people for ages now. Actually, it's been getting worse and we can have doctors refuse to treat us claiming they don't know enough about trans people to help. And that's even if we just came in because we slipped and sprained our ankle. There's also a twitter post about a state (not national) senator who can't even get her visa renewed. And it's a struggle for trans people to get our visas to begin with.

Basically? Whatever the worst is that happens to you still won't be as bad as we've been having. And it's why we need more people fighting for the rights of all lgbt people.

He hasnt done a single thing to support the LGBT community since entering office. His administration urged the Supreme Court to side with the anti-gay baker in their recent case. Trump is no friend of the gay community and anything he said about it during the campaign has proven to be a lie.

He is NOT pro gay. He waved a flag (upside down) and claimed to be pro gay, but let's look at his moves on LGBT issues

Refused to acknowledge Pride

Headlines at anti gay group conventions. Look up that Christian group he recently spoke at, their front page is covered with anti gay propaganda

Rolls back protections for LGBT people

Tried to ban trans from serving their country

Took on Mike Pence who is extremely anti LGBT as his VP

The way I see it, man, and take it with a grain of salt because Im a straight white male, is that whatever damage might be done to civil rights over the course of this administration is going to result in increased resolve among affected and sympathetic groups and a brighter future in the long run. In nature, forest fires are devastating, but theyre important for the environment because they facilitate new growth. Ergo, nothing this administration does is going to have lasting effect. Progress will ever drive slowly forward.

Not too mention they're going to be focusing all their efforts on Roe vs. Wade before anything else. :v Which sucks, but still...

I don't think Trump has anything against the LGBT personally. Just the people he's associated himself with surely do. Those are who we should really be worrying about. That's why you have to vote in every election, big or small. The more people we can get in to put a check on the legislative power of the crazies the better.

That's why we're better off if Trump doesn't get impeached or keels over from a heart attack or something. If he did we'd be stuck with wacko, electroshocking Mike Pence as president. I'd take Trump over Pence any day of the week. :v

Because he's trying to appease the evangelicals whose votes he's depending on in 2020, most likely. At least he didn't actively denounce it. >_> Staying silent is really the only avenue available to him if he wants to alienate the least amount of people.

But what if multiple local businesses all decide to tell you to leave? What if the markets in the "free market" all decide to discriminate locally? Should a person have to drive out of their way to enjoy a meal due to one aspect?

Like i see your point but that is dependent on the majority of people / other businesses being outraged and not prejudiced to counteract one bad apple.

A restaurant should be able to kick you out for whatever reason they want, just like they can kick me out for whatever reason. You also be able to raise hell on social media at the despicable act of kicking you out for being gay. The change/consequence should come socially, not legislatively.

The free market is better equipped now more than ever to take care of issues like this when you consider that the second this happens, the entire country knows about it and you'll have the masses at your back.
