Some rock bands are still great. Portugal the Man, All Them Witches, Band of Skulls, Ty Segall, etc. It's just that it doesn't have the marketing power that hip hop or pop has.

I think the problem is the way you're listening to the music. What kind of setup do you use, TC? I convert my vinyl records into digital vinyls via laser surface scanning. Once I have a perfect 3D model of my vinyl record, I throw it into autoCAD and make a digital vinyl record, then I program a digital turntable to play my record using an ultimate physics simulation that requires a cluster of 30 computers in my basement to get every calculation just right. It sounds wonderful through my Beats By Dre headphones.

The problem with rock isn't that men stopped listening to it, it's that teenage girls and young women did. And since dudes want to get laid, they follow whatever the women listen to.

I think this is the biggest issue. Like, I'm sure there are a lot of fantastic rock bands out there, but

I haven't heard of any of these bands. Honestly, the only "new" band I can think of is Fozzy, and that's just because Chris Jericho is the lead singer.

I haven't heard of those bands either aside from PTM

But generally speaking you have to go out of your way to discover good modern rock music

Rock will never die, you fucking posuers.

If you think it's dead just go to a rock concert. Rock and metal are alive and well, just because theyre not as mainstream as they used to be doesn't mean they're dead.

Yeah, rock concerts are still pretty packed and sell out. But I mostly see concerts of mainstream artists anyway

Let's be real

People wouldn't hate them as much if Rockstar never came out

'Cause we all just wanna be big rockstars
And live in hilltop houses, drivin' fifteen cars
The girls come easy and the drugs come cheap
We'll all stay skinny 'cause we just won't eat

Early 2000s basically I guess. There were some legit bands that still had major mainstream relevance then. Since then you still have big bands but theyre extremely poppy, hard to call it real rock. Caveat is that there are still good rock bands, but they dont get much attention outside of maybe randomly hearing their name.

Portugal the Man has been making music for like 15 years or something and finally made it big with that Feel It Still song that has been on every commercial and they even won a Grammy for it, beating out Justin Bieber for it which is pretty big for a rock band. They put on an insane live show. They're probably the hardest working modern rock band around right now.

There's still some good rock music to be heard, but there's really nothing though that's just fun and badass, like listening to AC/DC, or Ozzy, or Queen, or Van Halen, or whoever. Maybe I'm not doing a good enough job finding new bands, but almost all the new rock music I hear on the big rock station in my area all pretty much sounds the same, all with "woe is me" lyrics.
