Meh @ foot chase. It was more enjoyable than the counterfeit money subplot, though. I assume that it isn't truly over, since Raylan suspects his boss knows about it.

Anyway, I'm assuming that that fat Bennett had the stolen watch on. I wasn't really paying attention to it since it was weird having a little girl carry heavy-ass kegs around.

I want to say no, but most seasons have a weird subplot that goes nowhere. I love Justified, but things like that are why it skirts the line between top tier drama and standard procedural.

I've liked plenty of eps besides the pilot, so I don't want to think the show is downhill from there. Guess that's only something you can judge in retrospect anyway (on the last stretch of season two). Didn't think Boyd and Ava would be hooking up, though. Wonder if there's gonna be some Bonnie & Clyde type stuff in the near future.

I can understand favoring the pilot; it doubles as a really good first episode and an excellent short film, what with being a mostly straight adaption of Fire in the Hole. And the way it opens up with Pronto's finale and doesn't even explain what led up to it until the end is a great way of establishing Raylan's character. Finally there's the closing scene which is as central to the themes of the show as "we dug coal together."

Only other pilots I can think of that set up such high expectations are the tv milestones Lost and The Walking Dead.

Fittingly enough, the only comparison I can come up with for the opening scene is the one from Deadwood.

Anyway, just finished the episode where Dickie shot (?) Helen in the kitchen. It's the same one where Gary hired some buttonmen or something. Was gonna guess he'd turn traitor, but my internet was effed, so I couldn't post my prediction.

Just got to the penultimate ep where everyone's out for Dickie's blood and Mags gives him up to avoid jeopardizing her land deal. Raylan almost kills him out in the woods (after coldcocking the sheriff bro) but puts him behind bars instead. Mags vows vengeance, which I guess should make for a good S2 finale.

Pretty good finale. Didn't expect Mags to commit suicide at the end with the ol' poisoned mason jar tactic. Doyle getting sniped was great, though it's amazing how that weasel Dickie manages to keep surviving.

The questioning started with Raylan commenting on Boyd not wearing his suit (the one black coal bought him)

Boyd states he didn't think he'd need it and that Raylan shouldn't assume he doesn't have a closet full of them.

Then as Boyd's being cuffed away, to a court room for assaulting a federal, Raylan says "Boyd." "Yes Raylan?" " You should've worn the suit" "Boyd: ha ha"

It's a great scene.
