Just started DD: DA today and played it for 6 hours straight. WTF, why did I never give this game a chance before??? The combat is fantastic and the exploration feels organic and worthwhile. Anyone else pick this game up recently? Anyone play this game in the past? Someone needs to slap me for not picking this up last gen!

The first hydra fight was cool because I jumped from one neck to the neck and then immediately cut off the other head in one fell swoop. Felt badass.

I need to get the game. I had it on 360 but my disk drive broke shortly after I got it and the One was coming out in a few weeks so I never got my disk drive fixed.

Nirn itself did scream in the Mages' and Necromancers' war.

i liked the first couple of hours, but then found out that stuff is timegated (as in, if you wait too long to do something it becomes unavailable), so i felt pressured to find and complete quests as fast as i could instead of dicking around and exploring, which is what i initially liked. also hated that you gain stats based on what class you have equipped, so if you were to switch classes around a lot (which i did), you'd end up with a subpar character

never went back to it

Loving it so far.

I went to the big city Grand Soren or whatever really quick. Then doubled back and did some quests.

My only complaint questwise are the escort missions. Like... here accept this mission early on in the game where you escort a squishy NPC somewhere youve never been half way across the world where the enemies will merk you. Kay.

Love, love, love Dragon's Dogma! One of my all time favourite games. Glad you're enjoying it, TC! What class(es) are you playing/planning on playing?

I last played it when the remaster for PS4 came out and got the platinum on it. Now I'm conflicted with wanting to play it fresh again and not wanting to lose my save file. Probably should go back to one of my other copies...

I haven't really been having that issue, but that's mostly because I'm doing every quest as it comes to me so I was at least Level 12 before going to Gran Soren.

@LividDK Fighter for now. I enjoy the melee combat in this game far too much to not focus on it. I have a Strider for my main pawn though.

I totally get the second complaint, especially since the class I wanted to play (magick archer) has subpar growths for what it wants to do. I ended up modding my game so that it gave me similar growths to what a standard mage's growths would be. You can do the same if that's what bothers you, but I think the solution to the quests one is to just keep a guide handy for when stuff gets locked off.

I don't have much to say except it's a great game and assassins and magic archers rule.

@Lathissamus That's fair, the combat is super fun and one of the things I don't think I realised the first time I played was that a "basic" vocation doesn't necessarily mean "worst" and that Fighters, Striders and Mages all fill particular roles in the party.

There's a lot of stuff out there about level progression and how stat gains change for each class for the most efficient builds but honestly I'd just have fun and play whatever class you want. You'll only really struggle if you decide to go in to Bitterblack Isle as a fresh Sorcerer after playing the whole game as a Fighter (but even then, the you'd level up enough as a Sorcerer while in the dungeon to make a pretty good Mystic Knight without too much work).
