Just believing in Jesus and God isn't enough to get in to heaven.

I want to take umbrage with just this part; believing is actually enough to get into heaven.

Romans 10:9 and John 3:16 make it plainly clear.

No, they don't. Sinners go to hell. The Bible makes that plainly clear. The only exception is off you're Catholic, and confess AND TRULY REPENT FOR your sins.

No.

I was raised jn a Catholic household and went to Catholic school for the first thirteen years of my life as well as attending church every week until 13. I think I know a bit more than you.

If you were raised so, why do you clearly not know the bible? Jesus himself said that the building isn't the temple - the building is merely where the temple is held.

Your Catholic teachings are wrong, just like you.

I've read the Bible, cover to cover. Nowhere in it does it say "believing is enough to get in to heaven"

Hitler was a Christian. Do you think he got in to heaven just because he believed in God?

John 3:16

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

If you believe that Jesus, the sinless man, died for humanity's sins on the cross, you will go to heaven. Plain as day the Bible says that.

I mean, I'm pretty liberal when it comes to social issues within the realm of reason. But I'm very conservative fiscally. I'm basically a rockefeller republican, the oh so hated moderate in today's climate.

I didn't vote for him. I like some of what he's done, but overall I'm not a fan. I particularly don't like the impact he's had on the political climate in this country. But a lot of that can be blamed on the Republican party in general for the past 30 years. I just kind of see Trump as the culmination of those sins. And as a consequence Regan style republicans have pretty much lost control of the party.

As much as I don't like democrats they do at least keep the far left nuts out of office for the most part. Can't say the same for Republicans.

The separation of chuch and state is important to me. I believe it is important for religions and the state. So the growing number of conservatives who use their political power to push their religious objectives feels wrong to me. It is one of the main reasons I no longer vote republican. It feels like too many of them want to turn America into a Christian theocracy.

'Separation of church and state' doesn't mean laws can't have a religious starting point. It means the government cannot work with any religion, or have an 'official' religion.

And where is the clear line? When you start using one version of Christianity to make your rules you are saying "that denomination is more important then others." Our government shouldn't be playing favorites.

I am a Christian and my anger against the anti Christian agenda certainly does factor into things. Why would I vote for somebody who mocks Christianity and censors it??

I think the left taking uninformed pot shots at Christianity is another reason its losing so badly. Theres a huge Christian community that doesnt want to be demonized by a bunch of people who honestly have no clue what theyre talking about.

Hitler was a Christian. Do you think he got in to heaven just because he believed in God?

Hitler's about as Christian as a Mormon or Jehovah's Witness which have some very blasphemous doctrines about the nature of Jesus Christ and/or God. Also to quote from this wiki article:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Positive_Christianity

Hitler identified himself as a Christian in an April 12, 1922 speech.[4] Hitler also identified himself as a Christian in Mein Kampf. However, historians, including Ian Kershaw and Laurence Rees, characterize his acceptance of the term "Positive Christianity" and his involvement in religious policy as being driven by opportunism, and by a pragmatic recognition of the political importance of the Christian Churches in Germany.

Most historians have accepted that his claim of being a Christian was for the sole purpose of political lip-service to Christians in Germany and Austria and not because of any actual belief in the religion even though he was raised Catholic.
