Just bought some adidas ultraboost shoes.

My galaxy earphones are designed in a way that they're the only pair I've ever used that doesn't fall out of my ear when I jog. So Im happy about that.

I do treadmills.

I live in vegas, its like 100+ degrees outside at all times. Plus its easier on the knees. Plus running outside in vegas just seems like a dumb idea, air is polluted af, its hot af, theres no park close to me and running on the sidewalks is annoying cuz I could get killed at any time cuz no one in this city knows how to drive.

Treadmills are a great way to start getting into running. Theyre useful for getting your hear in shape for cardio.

But...they really dont strengthen your legs like real running does. If you want to be a serious runner, try the treadmill for a few weeks then start alternating between inside and outside runs.

Your legs will be way stronger this way.

One thing that comes to mind is that it's a poor substitution for actual running. If you spent hours and months on a treadmill it won't necessarily make you better at running for real because there's no air resistance. So if you ever tried to take your progress off the treadmill you'll still end up winded as if you were still just a beginner.

Lmao at running in Ultraboost!

Just keep your back straight and your chest out, never walk, alternate between jogging, running, and sprinting. Push and land with your thighs, swivel your hips, dont move your upper body too much you wanna keep it tight. Focus more on time and less on distance. Dont drink too much water, just a sip before going out. Eat like half a granola bar before going if you really have to.

Ok yall, yes, it is true that a treadmill is not as effective as running outside, but quit acting like its completely useless. Youre still being active and burning calories if that is ultimately your goal.

Pokemon GO helped me to run 10 miles the other day. I went very slow though, but I was texting and catching the whole time. My advice though, is not to stop. Run slow af if you have to, but don't do yourself the disservice of habituating being a pussy.

Yeah. I lost a ton of weight because I was able to get committed to using the treadmill regularly. You can do things like adjust the incline, too - it doesn't offer the randomness which could help with developing strength, but it's still useful.

I liked it because I was able to listen to music and zone completely out for a long time, knowing I had no need to worry about cars or uneven terrain or anything. I just needed to keep moving.

Run outside, hills and ladders are the key to building leg strength and good breathing. Good arm motions and form is everything. Even out of shape in regular sneakers I can break 6:30 for a mile run. Good arm motion helps propel you. People who flap or swing them wide are wasting energy, increasing their wind resistance and slowing down their movement per step.

So I did 2.0 incline today and ya it was alot harder. I was gassed after half a mile today. yday I went 2 miles straight until i had to slow down to a power walk. It may be because i did do alot yday including an additional 1+1 miles to make it 4 total miles and I was fatigued today but still.

Im gonna stick with the 2.0 incline and just try to build my endurance that way. Today it was 0.5+0.25+0.25 mile runs, with power walks in between.

What I'm hoping to get out of this in order: 1. improve cardiovascular health, 2. weight loss, 3. stamina for sports (basketball)

How do you run with your thighs?

Shifting around your body weight, momentum, center of gravity, tightening and prioritizing certain muscles. Different gaits help minimize injuries and soreness. Something that you just learn with experience.

Youre having to push your entire weight yourself when running on land. On a treadmill youre not having to propel yourself forward, just stay up basically

Well 2 days ago I was dying after 0.5 miles of treadmill on an incline of 2.0. Yday I was able to do 1 mile on a 2.0 incline before I gassed out.

I really like this idea of incline tho, its been really an intense run compared to the flat treadmill.

Lets see how today goes

Here's another reason why treadmills are bad. Actual inclines in the terrain? You won't learn how to actually run on them properly. Meanwhile in high school we had a hill with a 40 degree incline at points in our cross country course. So of course between it being just past the second mile in the 5k course and it being a large hill to run up and then a slow and long winding path down, I'd always gain at least 3-4 spots in most races.
