For those unfamiliar, their gimmick is "quality over quantity." In practice, what this means is that you get a set number of swipes per day.

It's not a terrible gimmick, but it's hypocritical because you can buy more "beans" (a.k.a your currency), which you can in turn use to view and swipe on more profiles. Meaning they don't actually care about their mission.

My first week of using it though, they actually had login bonuses for the currency. I thought hey, this is kinda cool, it's incentive to open up the app and check in (since your daily swipe-able options reset at noon).

Turned out, those login bonuses only worked for the first week. So now it's just 5-6 swipes a day.

Won't be long before whatever company that owns tinder and okcupid goes and buys this up to fix it.

Because it's the easiest path to take at this point. It's still pretty tough to blind approach someone at a museum or park or where-the-fuck-ever at this point since everyone's walls are so up.

The bar is the exception where it's generally encouraged to at least go talk to people, but going to a bar alone isn't exactly a good first impression, so then you're stuck with building a group of friends to go, planning a date, place, all that shit that comes with "bar crawling," all for a chance at striking up a conversation with someone.

Yeah theres a reason why POF is the most widely used and everything else is fuckin lol.

POF lets you find and interact with people without jumping through a million hoops just to find theres all of 6 people in your area and 5 of them are bots with the 6th not having logged in in 8 years.

muffin is 100% right on all points here.

approaching someone during the day is not worth it. there's a reason why most guys never do it consistently: the effort in doesn't match the reward out. daygaming is a meme, honestly. i have not done bar crawling but it does not sound like it'd be fun.

online dating really is the easiest path, but it really takes time and girls' standards on dating apps are pretty high up (understandably so, since they have a solid chance with the top 10%-15% of men right at their fingertips). online dating is also pretty low investment, so if you get rejected it's like "ok whatever" as opposed to being rejected in person (which really stings). with how interconnected everyone is, it's really hard to find a "hidden gem" as a guy. just have to get lucky with your social circles and who you know, honestly.

The micro transaction thing is kind of recent, but premium accounts have been around a while. Match.com is a premium site which has been buying up all the competition so that might explain it. Even the sites they don't own go down that path.

Also in my area it's a trashier crowd than OKC and the rest. Looot of prostitution.
