You don't die instantly.
You get led out in front of everyone and they make a big show as they force you onto the guillotine. Then they read out what you've done to deserve it. Then they slowly raise the blade. They then wait... and drop it when they feel like it. And remember you're face down, so you have no idea when they'll drop it. They deliberately draw it out to worry you. I would think an extreme electric shock would be the best. Ive been watching a lot of vids of accidents involving electric shocks and they seem to die in an instant. One guy got juiced a little too much and turned into a road flare.
