I'm not sure. It doesn't seem like a millennial thing at all, even though some millennials are now in their mid-30s. I've never been invited to one, much less been to one. Of course, I've barely had any friends in about 10 years, so I'm probably not the best way of gauging this, I suppose (lulz).

Do YOU go to dinner parties, and if so, how often?

Like, what, just meet up to make/eat dinner and hang out?

Cause we do shit like that, don't know if there's more to it than that, idk.

We did them a lot in high school for some reason.

Funny enough now that we are actual adults I don't know anyone I keep in contact with that does them.

Truth be told everyone's kind of regressed outside of like 5 really successful people I know

Most of the people I hung out with became hardcore hipsters too so maybe that explains it?

Clearly not, cause I guess we don't do them. >_>

Like, what's the point with just random friends? Only time I've been to something like that was for like an awards ceremony or some shit, never just for fun. We too poor for fancy shit like that just for no reason.

I semi-frequently attend formal black tie garden and dinner parties and probably qualify as a millennial according to some definitions.

Waffle, how old are you? You've never heard of a dinner party? Seriously?

Dinner parties do seem pretty Generation X, or Baby Boomer.

21.

Us college kids don't do that shit, especially when you're poor and live in the south.

It's probably more of a class thing than generational thing.

Do you think so? What, middle-class, and Waffle is working-class?

As a generalization they don't do anything that costs money.

One of the reasons why the economy is fucking up.

Our parents bought Wardrobes and had big dinners and BBQs and went on Road Trips.

This generation buys cheap microwave meals and walks 5 miles to pick up canned corn at 49 cents instead of 79.

Not even just students, I mean 30 year old adults.

I know homeoweners with 6+ figures in personal savings who still hold onto their cash like it was part of their body.

Not really among my friend group. It might just be a dude thing but we're always doing things along with dinner (e.g. playing a video/board game together). We would never really hangout just to eat and converse.

You know, this is probably true. But I doubt that millennials would have turned out like this, if not for the recession and problems with living standards, you know?

Maybe.

I'm not placing blame, i'm just saying this is how it is.

Although not spending money on shit will cause another recession

There's also the fact that millennials often pirate things across the board, practically. TV, films and music. This means that a lot less money is being spent by them every month.

I attended a dinner party at my coworker friend's brother's house. I think he was in his mid-30's, not sure if he can be considered a millennial. Had a very fun chat with his friend's family and his family

Not sit down meals as such because it isn't practical with kids but we regularly make a load of great food and invite people around. We've hosted a bbq every week since the end of April pretty much.
