The first time was last year when the EPA regulations that were due to go into effect were killed by the Trump administration. The company I work for had spent years and roughly 20 million or so dollars in compliance efforts, part of which was completely redesigning our entire product line. That resulted in 200 factory employees and 50 office employees losing their jobs, and those of us who remained had our hours cut down to 32 a week for 3 months.

Now, we have been informed that due to the increased material costs caused by the trade war, our bonus is gone this year as well as our annual raise.

So much winning.

Right now not much has changed except soybean farmers. They are fucked pretty hard right now and a lot of them will either have to farm something else entirely or sell their land and move on to something that isn't farming.

The ones that were supposed to go into effect last year were actually. They were given X amount of years to be compliant. We were done months in advance, most of our competitors weren't even half way to compliance. Clearly you have no concept of how long it takes to design, prototype, test, redesign, and finally bring to production (which includes competely retooling your lines).

Yep. I see this shit all the time for GDPR. These regulations get passed with literally no accounting for the ability of the organization to meet that compliance. It's like they just assume every company with 1000 employees is as profitable as any other company with 1000 employees and that they all have the same level of infrastructure and the level of effort is the same.

People literally tell us how they're going to get fired because they have no way to solve a problem they have now because of a bad decision that was made 20 years ago that makes updating the current infrastructure very hard and costly.

That and the world at Large believes your website needs to be working 100% of the time.

Theoretically, they could all be hired back and you could all just go back to your old (and presumably cheaper) way of doing business. Sounds like your company was just looking to reduce headcount.

Commercial refrigeration, I can't say any more than that due to legal reasons unfortunately. Basically we build refrigerators and freezers for restaurants, gas stations, grocery stores, and pretty much any place where you can buy a beverage from a reach-in refrigerator.

Ok, this is the best way to explain it. Imagine it in terms of a car. If you were to shut down your lines and completely redesign down to even the most minute of electrical parts to change your vehicle into one that runs on an entirely different fuel, you would not (without incurring costs almost as high as that of your conversion) be able to convert back to the original version. You can no longer even order the components that go in them (IE screws and everything that makes up the product that we don't manufacture our self), the people that manufacture them have moved on to new customers. Any kind of large scale manufacturing operation is a logistical puzzle that really only goes together one way.

I have a crazy theory. Bear with me here:

Trump supporters want nothing more than to upset liberals.

Liberals don't like Trump.

So....

If liberals start to worship Trump (convincingly enough) in great numbers, Trump supporters will turn on him. To spite liberals.

Does this make sense?

What's the plan if the next President comes in and reinstates them?

We win. We are already compliant.

But ththe damage has been too deep that might take more than 8 years to fix which the next GOP will just come in and get rid whatever Democrat sign into until America stops voting Republicans then we might get shit done and progress further and catch up with the rest of the western countries.

This happens regardless. America is frozen in time while the rest of the world advances because they put their country before party.

Well thanks for explaining it instead of offering nothing and being a jerk. Great post.

This was your first post.

Boo hoo.

Just a little perspective.

You don't get to come into threads being antagonistic and then complain other people are mean to you.

You should try reading the entirety of a post instead of the first sentence. You don't use selective reading. That's poor form.

There's no fucking way on Earth to start a post with crocodile tears and not be a smug jerk. So the rest of your post is meaningless, but it's just more sarcastic snarky shit anyway.

Oh. So you don't know how to read but only know how to do what you accuse others of doing. I see.

You need to go back to school. You sound more idiotic here than you did with your first few posts.

Why are you butthurt over nothing? No one's even talking to you.
