Solution is be good looking and rich and you will never be accused of rape.

Cause otherwise, if you are ugly, you might as well consider investing in an inflatable waifu.

Of course you will be accused of rape or sexual misconduct if you are good looking. Good looking people tend to get away with it more and its looked as less creepy to women.

A lot of guys are indeed paranoid now. Henry took it a bit to the top with the "rape" thing, but we know what he means. Comments you say to a woman or certain things you do can be taken as misinterpreted creepy/sexual harassment to a woman, especially in the workplace.

It's worse if you're a no-name because when some lunatic makes accusations about you at work like this you have no chance of even defending yourself. You're just straight going to get fired and be fucked out of a way of finding another job.

now he has to apologize xD this world is crazy.

The controversy with Henry Cavill first began earlier this week when excerpts from an interview Cavill had with GQ Australia spread online. When he was asked on his feelings surrounding the #MeToo movement, Cavill admitted that men's behavior has to change, but the actor also stated that he is a fan of traditional dating moves that members of the #MeToo movement may not be such big fans of. He explained, There's a traditional approach to that, which is nice. I think a woman should be wooed and chased, but maybe I'm old-fashioned for thinking that. It's very difficult to do that if there are certain rules in place. Because then it's like:'Well, I don't want to go up and talk to her, because I'm going to be called a rapist or something' This proved to Cavill's most controversial comment, and the issue quickly grew to a size where the actor could not longer ignore it come Thursday.

https://screenrant.com/henry-cavill-metoo-comments-controversy/

He is basically saying that the old school courtship methods were to go Pepe Le Pew over girls, to some degree. He is not wrong about it.

If in the 50s, 60s or 70s men simply said "sorry" and cowered in fear at the first "no" to the question "do you want to go out on a date?" the vast majority of men would have never gotten married.

He is simply saying that nowadays that doesn't fly (which is true), and that since he is a public figure he could get #MeToo'd for any little incident in the future, which is true.

Sure he lacked tact, but he is a steroid ridden meathead and he has the "I am a jerk" facial structure, I bet he was a jock or something growing up.

Why are the "empowered womyn" out there out for his blood? Dude is getting #MeToo'd without even having approach a woman for fear of being #MeToo'd.

not really

Being scared to approach women because of rape allegations is a tad absurd....

Maybe he needs to rethink his approach if he honestly feels this way.

He is a star (as much as I dislike the guy).

Many people out there for a quick buck would be more than willing to accuse him of such a thing if it meant a juicy court settlement.

Indeed, but the idea that he doesn't want to approach someone to flirt or be called creepy is not. It is a thought that many men now grapple with, and honestly, it's good that they do so. Because many of us are terrible at it, terrible at reading womens' discomfort at it, and really are creepy.

That word is thrown around a lot, probably more than it needs to be in some cases, but also probably less than it needs to be.

Men being aware of womens' social power and avoidant of being targeted by it is, in effect, confirmation that womens' social power exists. And they need social power, because they don't have physical power.

How many times have you (men) gotten a hotel room that just so happens to be at the end of a hotel's floor? so you're walking towards your room, which is at the very end, and there is this woman walking to her own room, which is also towards the end of the floor (just not as far as yours).

The situation is stressful as fuck. Thoughts of "she will think I am following her!" inevitably cross a guy's mind. "Should I walk slower? Should I pick up pace and sprint past her so I am in front?" "should I just turn around and get out of her line of sight and wait until she's gone so I can go to my room?"

This is not easy. I am with darkman on this one

oh damn he's cautious and wants to avoid lookin like a creep, what a crime...lock him up
maybe paranoid, but nothin he said sounded actually sexist to me

fuck im a woman and even i can see that there's still reasons for a man to be careful about what women he gets mixed up with, partly because ive fuckin seen the worst shit happen to male friends

like we got no problem sayin that modern women got reasons to be careful around some men
why the fuck it so hard to admit modern men got reasons to avoid twisted women too..? why you bustin your balls to deny they exist and also present a threat?

hell i know there some ruthless cutthroat bitches out there and you don't even need to be a man to feel paranoid around them

Having celebrity status and privileges does not make someone innately immune to life-damaging accusations.
Oddly enough, neither does being a goodhearted law-abiding citizen...

Movie actors in particular have plenty of rational profession-related reasons to not tread carelessly with their personal lives, as one wrong scandal can potentially demolish their careers into obscurity. They have significant stake to lose if they attract too much bad press.

If Henry Cavill feels a need to be careful about who and how he approaches other people (even if that includes the opposite sex), that's not exactly an uncommon policy for celebrity media icons to adopt. He was just one of the celebs put on blast for it...

I really doubt a man with his looks, status, and privileges seriously believes all women are too dangerous to approach now. And I think it would be extremely ignorant and overzealous to jump to that conclusion.

In my opinion, it's not just women who should be careful with whom they date...
