And also this game Corrik pissed off scummate han. (reading the exchange i see why Han got upset. Though poor leo was just trying to help patch things up...)

Oh I agree that he isn't specifically or intentionally seeking those kinds of reactions. "Naturally grating" is a very apt way to put it. It can be very off putting. And with regard to mafia I can't even argue against it's effectiveness. It puts other people off their game while they react to his abrasiveness and generally puts him in a better situation to succeed.

But still, maybe just be nicer sometimes? Iunno..

Sorry folks. We had end of financial year at work when this game got really going and since work is where I do the majority of my playing I was never going to be able to give the game justice that I wanted to and felt it was best to replace.

With this guy, with every argument, I like how it is the other person's fault. His modkilling himself makes me feel so justified with our past arguments. And now in the end game, where he knows the result, he's coming in a touring how right he was. The worst kind of people.

Let me try to explain why he was upset.

Han: Bah, I'm upset that I'm going to die.

Corrik: It's fine, you did your job.
(subtext: The implication here is that Han's biggest contribution was a night action which doesn't say much and the further implication is that his job is over.)

Han: Well that doesn't make me feel any better.

Corrik: "What? I said you did a good job!"

Han: "No, that is not what you said."

It is at this point that you could have realized that you said something that either offended him or diminished his contributions to the team. But instead you insisted that nothing you said could have possible been taken as anything but a positive comment.

See? It's like you literally don't realize you are doing it.

Yeah, I have literally no idea what you are talking about and think if you guys have to actively look for ways to spin something to somehow hurt your feelings then you need to re-evaluate the way you look at things.

Like, it comes off to me as being dramatic. The person who always has an issue with something someone says so they have a reason to complain.

If it isn't clear cut, it is probably just normal talk...

Yet, I am outright insulted nonstop. AND, also tried to be told I am the rude person!

It is also not constructive. Even just coming up with some sort of plan for the day would have been better and you could have tried to make the best of a bad situation. Even if it's something small like "Let's try and instigate things so that Han and X will have a really big back and forth during the day. That way when Han flips tomorrow we can say X was just trying to score easy points putting their scummate in the ground". But instead not much is said during that day's topic and Han is left to his own devices.

It's been a while but I've done that to people and not understood how it came off. Something about the inflection in the words sets them off.

Intent is irrelevant. If I'm carrying a mug of hot coffee and I spilled it on your feet then I hurt you. I don't get to say "it wasn't my intent to drop the coffee! I didn't intend to hurt you, so it doesn't count".

I think it is funny that you are even arguing this when it isn't even the comment he took offense to. He said the "Don't be scared" part offended him first of all.

Secondly, saying you did your job is absolutely a completely fine comment.

Let me explain a rude comment in which you do not have to spin it to hurt your own feelings.

"Wow you fucking suck. I wish you weren't even on our fucking team. Good riddance."

There. That is a rude comment.

Or how about... "If you were going to make that kill, you shoulda just forfeited"

Again, I am known to have meltdowns when stuff is going on in my life and I get pressured like that. Too many things are affecting my psyche all at the same time and that led to me doing something emotional and stupid. Again, I am sorry.

I will play again but probably not for at least a month, not until I can get some of these psychological issues I am having resolved...
