You could go to Funcoland or Goodwill or whatever and get a bunch of great games for a few $

Now nerds have driven the cost up 100 fold or more in some cases. It's still awesome to use the original system, but it's really sad the effect nerds have had.

It's not just nerds. It's also social media platforms like Youtube. Nerds showcase a game on Youtube. Even if it's nothing special or actually terrible, a lot more people will want to buy it. And then it costs more.

Well yeah man, also it doesn't feel like it to us old guys but that was a long time ago. The rarity of finding even common games in complete condition has decreased. Even I did the best I could to keep my collection in order and some games have been lost, or boxes damaged due to moves, time, life etc.

It only makes sense for the rarity to increase and thus value.
