I'm so glad you said this because I still don't get what guys are lugging around that they need all those extra pockets. Wallet and keys go in your back pockets. Phone in the front or hold it.

What else could you possibly be carrying on you in your everyday life? Inhaler? Swiss army knife? Food? Seriously get a backpack.

Those Chino shorts on many guys would just look plain weird. On a smaller guy or a girl, sure. But personally I'd much prefer a "traditional" shorts on your typical guy.

Simple. Chino shorts, and a lovely fanny pack complimenting the chinos' colour.

I heard y'all call them Banana Packs in the land of wine and cheese.

Anyone who puts stuff in back pockets deserves to get pickpocketed or to break it honestly. But I guess it's the lack of comfy space in them? I know I don't like putting things in pockets of my jeans for example, as tight fitting and don't like it so end up throwing everything in my bag instead.

I've already explained my position. When I go out places on a hot summer day, I definitely want a water bottle with me. I also want pockets that will be sealed witth buttons or velcro so I can go on rides and shit without worry of them falling out.

On Saturday I found a wallet left on the seat of The Dark Knight ride, and it's lucky for them because I turned it right in to a worker. Then on Sunday when we were eating we noticed a wallet on the floor behind someone eating. Luckily for him I let him know, otherwise he probably would have walked away without it.

Who wants to bet what kind of pants these fellas were wearing?

I don't wear shorts every day... I certainly can't wear any kind of shorts at work, although women are allowed to wear dresses because of double standards...

My point is less about being stylish, just about why I'm ridiculed for wearing them.

I swear this shit has been happening all my life. I remember in middle school when people in class started picking on me because my jeans were tight, and I had to go out and buy JNCOs to fit in.

That said, I agree, I waste the pockets on my cargo shorts. Ever since I quit smoking I have not been able to cope with all the room in my pockets cause all I have is my phone, keys and wallet.

Water bottles seem too heavy for my cargo pockets. I have a really bad genetic plumber's crack, so I can't afford to weigh down my belt more than I have to.

If I wear cargoes of any kind, it's because I'm a tourist or going to a convention and doing a lot of walking. I keep my cargo pants slim and my cargo shorts (a rarity - I don't wear shorts often) not too baggy.

Stands to reason I have only one pair of each. I'm all for function when it's needed, but I like my clothes simple and not busy with all the pockets and extra stitching.

Denim shorts seem to be attempting a comeback. I've been seeing more and more of them but they're similar in cut to modern chinos. They look like they're made of thinner material too.

I definitely prefer to not have any kind of bag. That was one of the things that I looked forward to in graduating school, not carrying around a backpack ever again.

I wear those cargo pants that unzip into cargo shorts year-round and I use all the pockets and there's nothing anyone can do to stop me

the hate really came in when the men's fashion renaissance started happening the past decade, and fitted clothing became the thing.

frumpy/baggy is not desirable, and cargo shorts come baggier than regular shorts and the pockets add extra frump.

people still wear the shit out of them, though, so don't trip.

I hate carrying wallet in my back pocket.

I don't really wear cargo pants because I have other pockets during the winter.
But in the summer there's no other option.

But I don't really carry wallet around all that often, either.

Is this directed at me? I don't usually put anything in the extra pockets, except maybe the money I made during happy hour before the next bartender comes on. I wear them because they are comfy and comfort is important when I'm working 12 hour shifts. They are casual and I'm a casual person. If I want to look good while I'm working I'll wear jeans. If I want to look good when I go out I'll wear a jacket or something with slacks or whatever.

Most guys I see wear at least fairly decently fitting ones here. Not too baggy, but not chino tight. Looks fairly decent to me on them at least.
