in 1991 I bought a TMNT comic and i had never read the comics before. it was way different from the cartoon and the one thing that mindfucked me the most was that Raph looked like that. and there was no explanation and no internet to look it up so I had no idea what was going on with him. it was just a single issue in the middle of some story and I never got any others. to this day, I don't really know why he looked like that

The turtles get taken to a place where they have to participate in a intergalactic wrestling match. That was Raphs costume. He went on to use the costume for awhile after.
