Yeah and you can't get a home with anything less than a $100,000 down payment here. So have fun with that.

Move.

I pay $1250 a month for mortgage (principal, interest, property tax, home insurance, PMI) and utilities. It's an 1800sqft 3 bed 3 bath house with attached two car garage.

Why people willingly choose to live somewhere that you need to earn six figures to be considered not in poverty has always confused me but then again I've never tried it out myself. Maybe the pros of living there outweigh the cons of how much it costs.

True, moving is expensive as fuck.

Asherlee10 posted...
You also compromise a lot to live in the less expensive areas of the U.S. In the more rural, less modernized areas you sacrifice food, culture, niche friends (like an astronomy club or D&D club), conveniences, entertainment, better job opportunities, etc.

You can find places that are both affordable and near larger cities depending on where you go. My wife and I were mostly looking in the suburbs of Seattle and Portland. You have the big cities right there but the rent in the surrounding areas is so much lower than here in southern CA.

But what is the point in making a higher wage if it all goes to bills and living cost ?

It's kind of all over the place where I live

Standard 2 bedroom apartments are around $1300 in the city, but you can find some pretty nice ones outside the city for under $1000

My first house which was 1400 sq ft. was $850 without putting anything down on it

The house I'm in now is $1500 a month and is almost 4000 sq ft. I had to put a chunk of money down to get it to that price, but it really wasn't a crazy amount

All in all there are a lot of good choices around here for living (NC)

I pay $680/month for a small 1 bedroom in Rochester NY. Went up $15 per month extra after renewing my lease, and now I pay $20/mo extra for having a cat. Kind of sucks considering I used to have a much bigger apartment where I only paid $600/month. That rent stayed the same for 4 years. I miss it.

Eh, I live in Omaha.

It's like the perfect mix of big city and small town.

And I get people can't just pack up and move. Just saying people should maybe look into moving sometime down the road, like in a year. Can't live happily if you can barely afford the roof over your head.
