Real talk. Why I'm unemployed.

I've chosen to be unemployed. Ever since I graduated college I realized I can't do the 9-5 office job. There's more to life than being stuck inside an office all day wearing clothes I don't want to wear. I can't do meaningless shit and work with people who's souls have been sucked out of. I'm not gonna commute to work, come home, make dinner, watch a little tv, and repeat the cycle over. I'm not gonna work just to pay off bills and have two meager weeks of vacation. I'm not gonna have some annoying boss watching my every move and threatening me if I break some stupid rule. Ya I'm pretty much rebelling against the system.

I'm not exactly like that but I can understand. I am never happy in jobs and frankly I just want to be home. I don't like being out in the world and I hate having to wear specific clothes or worry about a schedule

This shit is likely to be, in part, a side effect of wage stagnation + rising cost of living. When your time isn't worth crap, you're less likely to want to sell it, consequences be damned.

We'll get some communism or UBI shit well before that...it's going to be fucking sweet bro. Sitting around playing video games all day.

I'm not satisfied with my office job either, but it's more 11ish to when I feel like leaving (either 5:30 or 6:30 with option to stay until 7:30 if anything I'm doing is that urgent... I take the bus and it runs once an hour). No dress code. No grooming requirements. The shit I do isn't meaningless in general but it doesn't mean anything to me and is unfulfilling. Having to deal with the people I work with is annoying at times but they are far from soulless. Vacation time is based on hours worked and time employed by the company. Probably works out to more than 2 weeks a year at this point. The top bracket is 10+ years, which I'll hit in just over 2 years. My boss doesn't look over anyone's shoulder and pretty much has the attitude that so long as everyone is doing what they need to do within the deadlines set and gets along, it's all good and he's always willing to listen to input and takes everyone's feedback/opinions into consideration, plus employees have always been friends/family (his wife is my cousin).

Would like better but could be all kinds of worse.
