Yes but I don't really like novels and that's the main thing people think about. I like reading books about the occult and magic in general, also poetry and short stories.

its really pretty simple

1) pick 1-2 books that youve already read and really enjoyed. bonus if its been a while since you last read it. make a choice to read it daily or somewhat regularly, or perhaps set a deadline for when youll have it finished. make it a priority to keep that deadline, but also forgive yourself when you fail and remember that its about the action, not the result

2) when youre done with that selection, make sure youve already got your next book decided and available. it helps to choose a book youve always wanted to read, or perhaps get recommendations from friends or even celebrities you admire

at this point, youve established a rhythm, and its going to be much easier to continue reading more consistently

3) as you continue reading, try to create a backlog of books you want to read, so that youre never running out. be okay with the fact youre not going to catch up, and enjoy the journey. try to find books that feel relevant to your state of mind or life in any given moment whether it be to help you reflect, or to help you escape.

4) be sure to vary it up as you go. if you just read an intense classic, read something light and fun. if youve just read a romance, follow up with an autobiography. look at books on pop science, or self help, or another genre youve never considered. try reading multiple books at once, andy if you like it, do it more.

in addition to all of this, it might be helpful to do something that engages you with the text. i like to highlight passages that stand out for whatever reason if i relate to it, if it informs a character or theme, if it made me smile or cry, if i like the metaphor or alliteration it doesnt matter why, just that youre doing something. reflect on what you read, when that feels appropriate.

if you find you dont have time to read, get an audible subscription and listen to them while youre on the go. i like this less because its harder to reread passages when you miss something, but its a good solution for specific situations

I'm the same. I also tend to split my time between history books, classics, and pulpy fantasy/scifi.

It was Thirst by Benjamin Warner, it was alright, for me it wasn't a book I'd want to read again tbh

I'd say my favourite book I read so far this year would be The Bees by Laline Paull

I keep my Kindle by my bed and when I lay down, I turn on blue shade and read for an hour or so every night. (I go to bed about an hour before I want to be asleep for this reason too.)

Right now I'm reading a scifi series I've never read before that is free on Kindle Unlimited. It is by Nick Webb and the first book is called Constitution. It's been pretty good so far.

Recently I got done re-reading the Honor Harrington series including the spinoffs and anthologies. Last month I read the Foundation series (including the Robots and Empire series) along with some of Asimov's short stories and the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

For May, I was on a fantasy/urban fantasy kick and read most of the Drizzt series, the Cleric Quintet, the Dresden Files, and the Iron Druid series.

Not sure what I'll read next...

Just completed chapter 12, time for the new defense against dark arts teacher

Finished the first 3 books in the past few weeks, but this is a long one, 800-something pages compared to 300-something for the earlier books in the series
