80/80

If he does that... My God.. What kind of person would do that? That would be petty and sad!

https://www.yahoo.com/sports/unhappy-kawhi-leonard-really-sit-next-season-rather-reporting-raptors-212933174.html

Leonard and his agents let it be known that Leonard wanted to be traded to Los Angeles, and he owns some leverage there Leonard can be a free agent next summer, and he could simply sign with the Lakers, who have cap space available, in 12 months.

And, league sources told Sporting News, Leonard has no interest in playing for the Raptors. There have been indications that he would sit out the entire season if necessary, and though that step would be drastic and unprecedented in todays game, Toronto has forced the situation into uncharted territory by acquiring a player who has made it clear he does not want to be there.

If he sits out then he only hurts himself.

All this cause he thinks needs to be in a bigger market for what ever reason. He wanted more cash but at this point no one knows how well he actually is. He needs to show he has bounced back from his injury.

This is where my support for players end. I'm 100% fine with them using their leverage to be traded where they want, or with them "not being loyal" and signing wherever they want in free agency for whatever reasons they may have, but I do think that they need to play to the best of their abilities if they are healthy regardless of what team they are on. Kawhi Leonard is the last superstar player that I would expect this behavior from.

Because he literally left for NYC in September, went to a dozen doctors until his "camp" found one that would say he's injured.
Spurs never pressured him into anything, let him do his thing in NYC. When he came back he said it wasn't feeling right again and they let him back to NYC.
Then those morons in his camp tank his value with those idiotic public outbursts and ruin the team's chances of getting a decent return for him.
His coach, one of the best in NBA history, went to NYC with Duncan and Kawhi's uncle didn't even let him speak 1on1 with the coach.
You're a damn 27yo man and you act like a little bitch. He didn't deserve any better.
If they came to the front office, said we want a trade because of XYZ reasons, Spurs would get a lot better offers and everyone would be happy.

The dude got betrayed.

Yeah, basically the most quiet NBA star ever got betrayed by a team that never forces their players into making public appearances.
I'd really love to see his mute ass dealing with that circus in LA.

He made it clear he doesnt want to be anywhere besides LA, yet his team traded him somewhere else

Who cares about his wishes? He signed a damn 100mil$ contract, didn't play for a season, earned 20mil doing nothing and then Spurs should send him to LA in a terrible trade for them?
They made huge investments into him, gave him amazing coaching and development and now they're supposed to get nothing in return just because he wants to go to a certain team that doesn't want to give up the players Spurs want in a trade?
If he didn't get drafted by the Spurs he'd be a Andre Roberson with better spot-up 3pt percentage.
For example, if he got drafted by the Lakers he'd be sitting in the corner and waiting for Kobe's corpse to pass him the ball two or three times per game.

So he has the right to decide if he wants to play or not. Why risk a injury for a team youre not going to stay on. Toronto knew what they were in for.

No, he doesn't.
CBA agreement says that players are obliged to play if they're medically cleared. If they refuse they lose their salary and contract gets void, as in they can't become free agents. If he refuses to play for Toronto, they can just completely fuck him over and ruin his career.

It's not like these players are some amateurs working daily jobs. You get paid huge amount of money for chasing the ball around, you better deliver.

Nothing like Lakers fans and their mentality of the whole league being all about them.
