Read recently that many experts want you to decapitate the lobster or something before putting it in a steaming pot cause they might be able to feel it.

If they do feel pain then I'd care I guess. But it's not conclusive.

the fun thing about cooking crabs (not sure about lobsters) is when you drop them live into boiling water they let out this high pitch squealing sound like they're screaming but it's really just gasses escaping from their shell.

Because you need certain neurons to feel pain. It's debatable whether they are capable of feeling pain because of this.

Let me tell you a secret about "live lobster" seafood restaurants. They have a smaller tank in the back of the kitchen. They take the lobsters out of the tank on the floor, where the customers can see it and put it in the smaller tank. Then they grab a month old dead lobster from the freezer and steam that. Then at the end of the night they return they living lobsters to the tank, waiting for them to die so they can freeze them.
