The other game I have experience with in this style is Final Fantasy VI and this game is crushing in comparison

Just gotta change up your strategy. Pick the right party, prepare for how you want to use your breaks, get a good setup of weaknesses to attack in the party (i.e. make sure you have every weapon type and every element at your disposal) and just kinda work through it.

I had trouble in the beginning, but IMO the bigger your party gets, the easier it becomes.

Granted I'm only two stories into chapter 3 so far, so I've got a ways to go as well, but it's definitely at an appropriate difficulty.

Analyze is your best friend. Boosted it shows an extra weakness for each level.

This game is hard as fuck if you don't work with the break system.

I'm not that far, but I'm getting the impression that you should expect to die during your first go at a boss while you figure out it's weaknesses and come up with a strategy.

Nah man Olberic and Primrose have legit difficult starting bosses. The game comes out swinging compared to many others.

Hmm I started with Olberic and I didn't think it was that hard.

I have to believe Cyrus boss would be way harder since I almost died with an Olberic/Tressa/Cyrus team.

Nah see the starting chapters level with you in a way, like they get harder the more quests you do I think. Olberics is kinda crazy with full party from what I see. Primrose was hard even as a starter

No, I don't get that impression at all. I finished up chapter 1 and not once have I lost to a boss. Struggled, but never died.

I found it to be pretty easy (Therion was my starter) up until chapter 3 stuff. I tried one of the secret job bosses today and he wiped the floor with me.
