It's pretty sad that we have lost all willingness to unify as a single country and that critical thinking has gone the way of the dodo here. People don't even question authority any more, and "authority" has such a broad meaning that it can literally be fucking Teen Mom and The Bachelor to some people.

Its come to a head the last few years. The extreme rich / anti poor and extreme Christian wing of the Republican Party took complete control of the party which is why we see them push a Puritan social program and an economic program to benefit the wealthy.

Not like the left hadn't been harking against nationalism for the last 20 years. Don't get me wrong, I'm a fucking patriot and think yours is a fair criticism but many just don't get to pull this high road card.

There's a difference between holding nationalistic views and wanting the best for your country and her allies.

edit: I would also say there's a difference between holding nationalistic views and ... not thinking that the mass media is actively leading a campaign along with some dark conspiratorial group that's trying to destroy America. I could be wrong on both counts though idk

I tapped out of politics this year entirely. I'm just done with the divisiveness and refusal to listen to each other. I'm very leftist but I don't hate people on the right or view them as an enemy just because of political differences. I hate the militant mindset some people have with politics, this whole you're either with us or against us on every issue with no nuance or compromise
