Because it puts the shitty dialog into words they can understand and fully appreciate the shittiness of instead of reading it in text where there's a buffer of imagination.

Like others have said, they are stuck in the 80s-90s where it sounded like they got random people around the office to voice the characters.

Also, it's hard for a person to fully appreciate the art/animation if they have to read the subtitles. You're not looking at the picture during the glimpse it takes you to read the dialogue, and if the scene is moving fast there are things you are flat out missing. Like for example Tatami Galaxy was a challenge to watch with subtitles because the MC talked super fast.
