I mean, what's so difficult about the concept of weakening a Pokemon before capturing it? Kids could figure that out for years; even he anime hammered that bit in.

Idk. I was 9 when I started Pokemon and while I never fully understood or appreciated stuff like physical/special or how stat buffs were applied, the core mechanics were easy to grasp and I beat the game with a pretty large collection

And this coming from a guy who didnt know how to get out of the players house at first lol

I mean, I'd say obtuse over difficult, oh oops, my move crit, I better just try again with some other poke or reset the game!

Anytime where you go out of your way to waste move slots on crap like False Swipe, that should be a red flag. If I keep tackle just to weaken low pokemon, that's a design issue.
