Between the grating accents and some cringe VA performances, the excessively overcomplicated item/modding system, the far too many different steps you need to make to upgrade your characters, the annoying tutorials, the boring sidequests that take far too much time and require too many rare item drops, the slow-ass combat and the fanservice that surely only appeals to 6 year old boys, it was maybe the worst start to a good game I can remember.

But it's coming together now. Combat is starting to get a good flow to it that reminds me of the original Xenoblade. I've got some half decent blades finally so I can actually perform combos. The story is genuinely good. I've realised this is basically pokemon but instead of collecting animals you collect anime girls.

First game had basically none of these problems.

The environments in this are amazing though.

It's really hard for me to suspend my disbelief when Nia sounds like a Kelcy from the valley on her way home from a bangin' night down at the local, chips and cheese in one hand and heels in the other
