When a day lasts longer than a year
Where it rains sulfuric acid
Where it's so hot it literally melts lead on the surface
Where there's a volcano every few miles no matter where you are
Where the atmosphere is so thick your lungs would explode (and then melt from the heat and dissolve in the acid rain)

It's like if Earth hit menopause

When I said "space" I was also including basically any interstellar object that isn't a planet.

As for Jupiter, you couldn't ever really "live" there because at very best there's a rocky core surrounded by a sea of liquid hydrogen. I'm talking about a solid Earth-like planet, not a gas giant.

Also Pluto would be cold as hell but it doesn't rain freaking acid, nor is it a planet.

There's actually a reasonable chance you'd live longer falling into a black hole than you would entering the atmosphere of Venus, assuming we consider "passing the event horizon" as "falling in".

You don't even get 30 seconds on Venus before you're a puddle of organic fluid.

But if you tried to live in either, you'd most likely be screwed either way.

not a physics expert but I don't think you get 30 seconds at 2000 or 20 kelvins either.

So how is that "living" and Jupiter not?

Could you even get to the surface of Venus

Ok ok guys. Let me set some rules then.

It has to be a planet that you can actually put your foot on before being dead.

We know we can at least land on Venus with a lander. I don't think we have any spacecraft that could survive the surface pressure of Jupiter.

Hopefully. I'd bring women to my Venusian bachelor pad like I was Elroy Jetson.

pretty sure atmospheric pressure of Venus will kill you before you can reach the surface. Being on surface of Venus is roughly equivalent to being 1km underwater on Earth.

I'd say Venus is more useful as a mining planet for specific gases in the Atmosphere.

If we need quick / cheap access to __ gas or element within the air of Venus, we can easily harvest it and process it in a orbital processing facility that would separate the elements into it's individual components for shipping off into space to other colonies / stations.
